The minimal standards for including a species in the genus Mycobacterium are i) acid-alcohol fastness, ii) the presence of mycolic acids containing 60-90 carbon atoms which are cleaved to C22 to C26 fatty acid methyl esters by pyrolysis, and iii) a guanine + cytosine content of the DNA of 61 to 71 mol %.

Different hypotheses have been formulated on the history and geographical origin of citrus. It would appear that all the species belonging to Citrus and its related genera originated in the tropical and subtropical regions of South-east Asia, north-eastern India, southern China, the Indo-Chinese peninsula and the Malay Archipelago, and then spread to ...

Abstract There are essentially three ways in which four species may be related in a phylogenetic tree graph. It is usual to compute for each of these three possibilities the smallest number of mutations that could have brought about the observed distribution of characteristics among the four species.

Fungi and the diseases that they produce have become an important part of patient care and management. Identification of these organisms can be difficult because of the need to know and discern fungal morphology and structure. This article reviews mycologic terms, describes and defines fungal structures, discusses fungal isolation techniques, and ...
