On the Annual and Semi-Annual Components of Variations in Extent of Arctic and Antarctic Sea-Ice
In this paper, the 1978–2022 series of northern (NHSI) and southern (SHSI) hemisphere sea ice extent are submitted to singular spectral analysis (SSA). The trends are quasi-linear, decreasing for NHSI (by 58,300 km2/yr) and increasing for SHSI (by 15,400

Spectral method for identification of flow regimes in a Couette-Taylor annular flow [PDF]
The paper presents a study of flow structure in an annular flow of the Couette-Taylor system, employing spectral analysis of moment of resistance and radial dynamic pressure pulsations. Experiments were conducted on a model featuring a single annular gap,

Transient generalized Taylor-Couette flow: a semi-analytical approach
Semi-analytical solution of transient generalized Taylor-Couette flow of a viscous, incompressible fluid between the gaps of concentric rotating cylinders under applied azimuthal pressure gradient ispresented.

Elastic turbulence in shear banding wormlike micelles
We study the dynamics of the Taylor-Couette flow of shear banding wormlike micelles. We focus on the high shear rate branch of the flow curve and show that for sufficiently high Weissenberg numbers, this branch becomes unstable.

Abstract We constrain the contribution of driving and resistive regional forces to the observed surface deformation in the Nubia‐Eurasia plate boundary region. We use a viscoelastic mechanical model with fault zones representing regional active faults. Deformation is driven by velocities of surrounding plates and by lateral variations in gravitational ...

Abstract Accurate prediction of air‐sea fluxes hinges on a deep understanding of wind‐wave interactions, yet feedback mechanisms involving surface waves and wind are not fully understood. This paper investigates the effect of two‐way coupling between wind and waves on wind turbulence through direct numerical simulation of air‐water two‐phase flows ...

The magnetorotational instability (MRI) is thought to be a powerful source of turbulence and momentum transport in astrophysical accretion discs, but obtaining observational evidence of its operation is challenging.

Numerical Investigation of Liquid Jet Breakup in Rotary Atomizer
This study presents a numerical analysis of liquid jet breakup in rotary atomization. By comparing different boundary conditions and focusing on gas–liquid interactions, the simulation reveals nonlinear instabilities that govern droplet formation.

Non-axisymmetric Magnetorotational Instabilities in Cylindrical Taylor-Couette Flow [PDF]
We study the stability of cylindrical Taylor-Couette flow in the presence of azimuthal magnetic fields, and show that one obtains non-axisymmetric magnetorotational instabilities, having azimuthal wavenumber m=1. For Omega_o/Omega_i only slightly greater
