Rigorous Polynomial Approximation Using Taylor Models in Coq [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
One of the most common and practical ways of representing a real function on machines is by using a polynomial approximation. It is then important to properly handle the error introduced by such an approximation. The purpose of this work is to offer guaranteed error bounds for a specific kind of rigorous polynomial approximation called Taylor model. We

Predictive Assessment of Progressive Damage in Mechanically Fastened Glass–Epoxy Composites

open access: yesPolymer Composites, EarlyView.
Progressive damage in mechanically fastened glass–epoxy composites. ABSTRACT Ensuring the structural integrity of advanced composites necessitates precise methodologies for forecasting the onset and progression of damage. This research focused on the predicting progressive damage (PD) for riveted joints composite laminates employing a combined ...

A method for the approximate solution of the second-order linear differential equations in terms of Taylor polynomials [PDF]

open access: yes, 1996
A matrix method is introduced for the approximate solution of the second-order linear differential equation with specified associated conditions in terms of Taylor polynomials about any point.

Propagation of internal gravity waves: Optimal vertical discretisation and grid design based on numerical error analysis

open access: yesQuarterly Journal of the Royal Meteorological Society, EarlyView.
An energy‐conserving discrete framework for the vertical discretisation of stratified ocean models is developed using internal gravity‐wave theory. A β$$ \beta $$‐indexed family of schemes is analysed through perturbation theory, revealing optimal parameter choices and grid designs that reduce truncation errors significantly.

Computation of the Taut, the Veering and the Teichmüller polynomials [PDF]

open access: yes
Landry, Minsky and Taylor (LMT) introduced two polynomial invariants of veering triangulations—the taut polynomial and the veering polynomial. Here, we consider a pair of taut polynomials associated to one veering triangulation, the upper and the lower ...

The evaluation of the order of approximation of the matrix method for numerical integration of the boundary value problems for systems of linear non-homogeneous ordinary differential equations of the second order with variable coefficients. Message 2. Boundary value problems with boundary conditions of the second and third kind

open access: yesVestnik Samarskogo Gosudarstvennogo Tehničeskogo Universiteta. Seriâ: Fiziko-Matematičeskie Nauki, 2017
We present the second message of the cycle from two articles where the rearrangement of the order of approximation of the matrix method of numerical integration depending on the degree in the Taylor’s polynomial expansion of solutions of boundary value ...

The Macroeconomic Drivers of Carbon Emissions in East Africa: Capital‐Driven Versus Trade‐Driven Globalization

open access: yesSustainable Development, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT East Africa has recorded strong economic growth over the past three decades alongside a steady rise in carbon emissions, raising concerns about whether the region can sustain growth without worsening environmental pressures. This study incorporates key macroeconomic drivers of carbon emissions using panel data for 9 countries from 1990 to 2023,
