Performance comparison between TCP Reno and TCP Vegas
Computer Communications, 2002Following the development of TCP Vegas, the performance comparison between TCP Reno and TCP Vegas has not been discussed thoroughly. The discussion of the revised TCP version, TCP Vegas, remains insufficient to decide whether or not to use it. This paper attempts to compare the performance, throughput and fairness, of Reno and Vegas in the network ...

A hardware implementation of the TCP protocol applying TCP-BIC and TCP-CUBIC standards
2016 28th International Conference on Microelectronics (ICM), 2016In this paper a new hardware implementation of the TCP protocol is presented. The design can be adapted to apply either the TCP-BIC or the TCP-CUBIC standard with an input control bit. The design was done using Verilog. It was efficiently synthesized on Faraday UMC 90 nm standard-cell library.

TCP, ICMP and IP are extremely important protocols as they allow hosts to communicate over the Internet in a reliable way. The TCP layer is defined by RFC793 and RFC1122, ICMP by RFC792 and the IP layer by RFC791. TCP provides a connection between two hosts and supports error handling.

Experimenting with multipath TCP
ACM SIGCOMM Computer Communication Review, 2010It is becoming the norm for small mobile devices to have access to multiple technologies for connecting to the Internet. This gives researchers an increasing interest for solutions allowing to use efficiently several communication mediums. We propose a demonstration of our Multipath TCP implementation for Linux, that allows spreading a single TCP flow ...

Proceedings of the fourth international conference on Future energy systems, 2013
In this paper, our objective is to experimentally evaluate how the incoming and outgoing traffic patterns provided by the TCP protocol impact on the energy efficiency of a networked device under a number of realistic scenarios. To this purpose, we set up a complex testbed that allowed us to perform a huge number of measurements on energy- and network ...

BA-TCP: a bandwidth aware TCP for satellite networks
Proceedings Eight International Conference on Computer Communications and Networks (Cat. No.99EX370), 2003In the presence of satellite channels, one of the most challenging problems for TCP is to achieve fair bandwidth sharing among several competing connections with round-trip propagation delays that may differ by more than two orders of magnitude. The bandwidth-aware TCP (BA-TCP) provides a fair solution while maintaining the end-to-end semantics of ...

Comparison of TCP Reno and TCP Vegas: efficiency and fairness
Performance Evaluation, 1999Summary: We compare the performance of two versions of TCP, the transmission control protocol of the Internet: the current version called Reno, and a recently proposed version called Vegas. By means of a fluid approximation, we show that due to the use of round-trip times measurement, the window dynamics of TCP Vegas are much more stable than those of ...

A comparatively simple proof is given for the general theorem that a wide class of quantized field theories which are invariant under the proper Lorentz group is also invariant with respect to the product of time reversal (T), charge conjugation (C), and parity (P). In the proof use is made of an important simplification introduced by Pauli.
