Prevalence of dengue and leptospirosis co-infection in a tertiary care hospital in south India

open access: yesIranian Journal of Microbiology, 2018
Background and Objectives: Dengue and Leptospirosis were often discussed separately with rash being more common in dengue and jaundice in leptospirosis. But with increasing reports of co-infection, the situation has become worse.

Synergistic Fluorine and Cyanide Co‐Modification to Reinforce Photoinduced Excitons Formation and Transfer for Efficient CO2 Photoreduction

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
An advanced F‐doped and ─CN group co‐modified FCCN is developed. Due to the synergistic effects of co‐modification in promoting photogenerated exciton generation, enhancing charge kinetics, expanding active interfacial areas, and optimizing CO2 interfacial reactions, the FCCN photocatalyst demonstrates excellent catalytic performance and high ...

Bonaviri and the poetics of rewriting

open access: yesZibaldone: Estudios Italianos, 2020
This article proposes the analysis of some narrative texts by the Sicilian writer Giuseppe Bonaviri, in search of the ways in which he rewrites topoi, archetypes, mythologemes, fables, according to a postmodern style and spirit.

Emergent Spin‐Glass Behavior in an Iron(II)‐Based Metal–Organic Framework Glass

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A one‐pot, solvent‐free synthesis yields an Fe2+‐based metal‐organic framework (MOF) glass featuring a continuous random network structure. The material exhibits spin‐glass freezing at 14 K, driven by topological‐disorder and short‐range magnetic frustration, showcasing the potential of MOF glasses as a plattform for cooperative magnetic phenomena in ...

Procalcitonin as a Biomarker for a Bacterial Infection on Hospital Admission: A Critical Appraisal in a Cohort of Travellers with Fever after a Stay in (Sub)tropics

open access: yesInterdisciplinary Perspectives on Infectious Diseases, 2009
Fever in a returned traveller may be the manifestation of a self-limiting, trivial infection but it can also presage an infection that can be rapidly progressive and lethal.

Unveiling Aggregation‐Induced Singlet Fission in Push–Pull Diketopyrrolopyrrole Water Dispersed Nanoaggregates and Thin Films

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Aggregates of diketopyrrolopyrrole dipolar and quadrupolar systems exhibit panchromatic absorption spectra extending in the entire visible range. Upon aggregation in water and in the solid state, their fluorescence is almost completely quenched and their singlet excited state lifetime is significantly shortened.

An In Situ Study of the Topochemical Transformation of Hybrid Layered Hydroxides Into Metallic Nanocomposites

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Herein, the topochemical transformation of cobalt‐based layered hydroxides into nanocomposites is investigated using advanced real‐time characterization techniques combined with thermogravimetric analysis. The study reveals how interlayer carboxylic acids direct the transformation pathway, highlighting the role of carbon content and anion length. These
