Corrosion Inhibition Mechanism and Stability of Quinic Acid as a Green Corrosion Inhibitor on Mild Steel

open access: yesChemistryOpen, EarlyView.
It has been found that quinic acid, an organic acid found in various plants, exhibits a high level of corrosion inhibition activity in preventing HCl‐induced corrosion and maintains its stability up to 144 h. Environmentally friendly quinic acid has a high potential for use as corrosion inhibitors in mild steel.

LIA-QMS method for the quantity analysis of the hydrogen isotopes retention in first-wall components of Globus-M2 tokamak

open access: yesNuclear Materials and Energy
The technique based on quadrupole mass spectrometry of the material ejected by laser-induced ablation – LIA-QMS is proposed as a tool to measure H/D/T content in carbon co-deposits in the first wall and divertor regions of tokamak reactors.

Disarming the Hsp70–Bim Alliance: Small‐Molecule and Peptidic Disruptors of a Chaperone‐Apoptotic Switch in Cancer

open access: yesChemistryOpen, EarlyView.
Targeting a nucleotide‐sensitive groove on Hsp70 that binds the Bim BH3 helix, we integrate structures, biophysics, and SAR from peptides, fragments, and phenalene‐dicarbonitrile “wedges.” These disrupt the Hsp70–Bim complex with sub‐µM cellular engagement and in vivo activity while sparing Hsp90/mortalin.

DESIGN, DEVELOPMENT AND PERFORMANCE OF OPTIMUM WATER SOFTENER [PDF]

open access: yesEarth Sciences Pakistan, 2019
Water is an important factor of life for all living organisms and it is now deteriorated very rapidly due to industrial effluents, municipal and agriculture waste leaching down the groundwater. The percolation of water through the deposits of limestone

Development of Tunable Materials From Well‐Defined Alendronic Acid Functionalized Polyacrylamide: An Opportunity for Actinide Decontamination

open access: yesJournal of Polymer Science, EarlyView.
Alendronate‐based copolymers for Nd and Ce recovery. ABSTRACT Bisphosphonic acid groups are emerging as promising functionalities for actinide decontamination, due to their high density of chelating sites. However, the chemistry of bisphosphonate (in particular alendronate) materials remains complex and underexplored.

Pesticide prioritization based on risk and model diet proposals for assessing cumulative exposure to pesticide residues in the Brazilian population through food consumption

open access: yesPest Management Science, EarlyView.
A risk classification of registered pesticides in Brazil was conducted, and the contribution of food to cumulative pesticide exposure was evaluated. Model diets were proposed, based on Brazilian consumption patterns. Abstract BACKGROUND Pesticide residue exposure assessments can be carried out during both the pre‐regulation and post‐regulation phases ...

Dynamics and model representation of two contrasting extreme precipitation events in the Sahel

open access: yesQuarterly Journal of the Royal Meteorological Society, EarlyView.
Hovmöller diagrams of the two investigated extreme precipitation events in Mali are shown for (i) IMERG observations, and ICOsahedral Nonhydrostatic model (ICON) runs with parameterization of explicit convection (ii) enabled and (iii) disabled. This work highlights that the commonly perceived benefit of using explicit convection in a state‐of‐the‐art ...
