Dietary Qiwenghuangbo powder–enriched Limosilactobacillus reuteri protects the intestinal epithelium and alleviates inflammation via a strain‐specific mechanism

open access: yesAnimal Models and Experimental Medicine, EarlyView.
Dietary Qiwenghuangbo powder improved growth performance and intestinal health of weaned piglets, as well as altered microbiota composition as significant enrichment of Limosilactobacillus reuteri. Furthermore, out of three isolated L. reuteri, two strains could alleviate pathogen infection and intestinal inflammation in the colitis models induced by ...

Time‐of‐Flight Secondary Ion Mass Spectrometry‐Partial Least Square Regression for Quantifying Interleukin‐8 in Biopolymer Matrices

open access: yesAdvanced NanoBiomed Research, EarlyView.
The power of time‐of‐flight secondary ion mass spectrometry‐partial least square regression to detect interleukin‐8, a chemokine involved in inflammation and cancer, down to mass fractions of 1 ppm within biopolymer matrices, including Matrigel and glycosaminoglycan‐based hydrogels, is demonstrated.

Quantifying Imperfect Cognition Via Achieved Information Gain

open access: yesAnnalen der Physik, EarlyView.
Cognition, the processing of information in the form of inference, communication, and memorization, is the central activity of any intelligence. To quantify imperfect cognition, the concept of achieved information gain (AIG) is introduced. AIG can be derived axiomatically, allows cognitive fidelity and efficiency to be defined mathematically, and ...
