MENISCUS ROOT TEARS IN CHILDREN AND ADOLESCENTS

open access: yesOrthopaedic Journal of Sports Medicine, 2019
Background: The medial and lateral menisci function to optimize force transmission across the knee by increasing contact area between the femur and tibia, absorbing shock, and transmitting loads.

Semimembranosus Tendon-Sparing Arthroscopic Inside-Out Repair of a Medial Meniscus Bucket-Handle Tear. [PDF]

open access: yesArthrosc Tech
Abstract Bucket‐handle tears of the medial meniscus are a common knee injury. Meniscal repair restores stability, reduces degenerative changes, and improves clinical outcomes. Repair may be performed using all‐inside, outside‐in, or inside‐out techniques.

Multimodal Locomotion in Insect‐Inspired Microrobots: A Review of Strategies for Aerial, Surface, Aquatic, and Interfacial Motion

open access: yesAdvanced Robotics Research, EarlyView.
This review identifies key design considerations for insect‐inspired microrobots capable of multimodal locomotion. To draw inspiration, biological and robotic strategies for moving in air, on water surfaces, and underwater are examined, along with approaches for crossing the air–water interface.

Techniques to treat challenging meniscus tears

open access: yesJournal of Cartilage & Joint Preservation, 2023
Introduction: Meniscus tears are one of the most common knee pathologies encountered. Although meniscus tears were initially treated with meniscectomy, numerous studies have described the effect of meniscectomy on accelerating degenerative changes of the

ROS‐Targeted Nanomotor Therapy in OA: Cartilage Protection and Pain Relief

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
ROS‐responsive NM@MET nanomotors utilize elevated ROS in osteoarthritic joints to promote deep penetration into cartilage and synovium and enable sustained metformin release. By scavenging ROS, regulating NRF2/KEAP1 signaling, protecting chondrocytes, suppressing synovial inflammation, and attenuating nociceptive signaling, NM@MET alleviates pain and ...

The role of the meniscus in the tear film [PDF]

open access: yes
In the diagnosis of dry eye, an evaluation of tear fluid volume is an important parameter. The tear menisci hold approximately 75-90% of the overall tear fluid volume and serve as reservoirs, supplying tears to the pre-corneal tear film.

Targeting NSUN2‐Mediated m5C Modification Attenuates Chondrocyte Senescence and NLRP3 Activation in Osteoarthritis

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
NSUN2‐mediated m5C modification cooperates with ALYREF to stabilize and export IP3R3 mRNA, increasing IP3R3 expression and Ca2 + overload in chondrocytes. This signaling promotes mitochondrial dysfunction, NLRP3 inflammasome activation, and senescence, thereby accelerating osteoarthritis progression.

Multidimensional Information Fusion Method for Meniscal Tear Classification Based on CNN-SVM

open access: yesChinese Journal of Magnetic Resonance, 2023
Aiming to address the problem of low classification accuracy caused by the different shapes of meniscus tears in the computer-aided diagnosis (CAD) system for meniscus, a multidimensional information fusion network (MDIFNet) model for menissus tear ...

Hamaker Constants of van der Waals Materials under Clean‐Interface Conditions

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Clean‐interface adhesion in representative van der Waals materials is quantified by Ultra High Vacuum (UHV) Atomic Force Microscopy (AFM) with in situ cleaning and calibrated probes. Benchmark Hamaker constants for graphene, MoS2, and SiO2 are established, while humidity is shown to reversibly amplify adhesion, explaining much of the scatter in ...
