Associated Changes During Arthroscopic Evaluation of the Glenohumeral Joint in Rotator Cuff Tear - Comparison According to Tear Size - [PDF]

open access: yesThe Journal of the Korean Shoulder and Elbow Society, 2004
Purpose: To identify associated findings in glenohumeral joint in rotator cuff tear and evaluate its clinical significance, we examined minor and major changes during arthroscopic or mini open repair. Materials & Methods: We reviewed 66 patients of rotator cuff tear treated from March, 2001 to January, 2004. Of 38 cases of small to medium tear, average

Colorectal cancer‐derived FGF19 is a metabolically active serum biomarker that exerts enteroendocrine effects on mouse liver

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Meta‐transcriptome analysis identified FGF19 as a peptide enteroendocrine hormone associated with colorectal cancer prognosis. In vivo xenograft models showed release of FGF19 into the blood at levels that correlated with tumor volumes. Tumoral‐FGF19 altered murine liver metabolism through FGFR4, thereby reducing bile acid synthesis and increasing ...

Mathematical modeling of thrombus formation in idealized models of aortic dissection: Initial findings and potential applications [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
Aortic dissection is a major aortic catastrophe with a high morbidity and mortality risk caused by the formation of a tear in the aortic wall. The development of a second blood filled region defined as the “false lumen” causes highly disturbed flow ...

Influence of Rotator Cuff Tear Size and Repair Technique on the Creation and Management of Dog Ear Deformities in a Transosseous-Equivalent Rotator Cuff Repair Model

open access: yesOrthopaedic Journal of Sports Medicine, 2014
Background: Redundancies in the rotator cuff tissue, commonly referred to as “dog ear” deformities, are frequently encountered during rotator cuff repair.

RIPK4 function interferes with melanoma cell adhesion and metastasis

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
RIPK4 promotes melanoma growth and spread. RIPK4 levels increase as skin lesions progress to melanoma. CRISPR/Cas9‐mediated deletion of RIPK4 causes melanoma cells to form less compact spheroids, reduces their migratory and invasive abilities and limits tumour growth and dissemination in mouse models.

Complex Labral Tears Are Not Predicted by Number of Preoperative Dislocations nor Time From Injury to Surgery in Patients Receiving Arthroscopic Anterior or Posterior Labral Repairs

open access: yesArthroscopy, Sports Medicine, and Rehabilitation
Purpose: To evaluate whether complex glenoid labral tears (i.e., those involving >120°of the glenoid labrum) are related to demographics, injury patterns, and surgical procedures/timing in patients undergoing primary arthroscopic labral repair.
