Global Linear and Nonlinear Gyrokinetic Simulations of Tearing Modes [PDF]
To better understand the interaction of global tearing modes and microturbulence in the Madison Symmetric Torus (MST) reversed-field pinch (RFP), the global gyrokinetic code \textsc{Gene} is modified to describe global tearing mode instability via a shifted Maxwellian distribution consistent with experimental equilibria.

The physics of a small-scale tearing mode in collisionless slab plasmas [PDF]
Microtearing modes have been widely reported as a tearing parity electron temperature gradient driven plasma instability, which leads to fine scale tearing of the magnetic flux surfaces thereby resulting in reconnection of magnetic field lines and formation of magnetic islands.

Disc Tearing in a Be Star: Predicted 3D Observations [PDF]
We build on our previous work involving smoothed particle hydrodynamic simulations of Be stars, by using the model that exhibited disc tearing as input into the three-dimensional Monte Carlo radiative transfer code HDUST to predict observables from a variety of viewing angles throughout the disc tearing process.

Modification of Constrained Rod Casting Mold for New Hot Tearing Measurement [PDF]
Hot tearing severity was evaluated in this experiment by introducing a new apparatus called Constrained Rod Casting Modified Horizontal (CRCM-Horizontal). Six constraint bars with different lengths can produce hot tearing on the cast sample.

Effect of oil based CMYK process inks on tearing characteristics of paper
Every day we use many different kinds of printed materials exposed to tearing stresses. Interactions between paper and printing inks affect the inter-fiber bonds, accordingly the tearing properties of paper.

In modular polyketide synthases, the dehydratase (DH) domain catalyzes the dehydration reaction of the β‐hydroxyacyl unit attached to the cognate acyl carrier protein (ACP) domain. However, it is unclear how DH interacts with ACP during the reaction. In this study, we identified DH–ACP interface residues, providing the first detailed insights into DH ...

Aluminum alloys 5083, 6061, and 7075 are prone to hot tearing under direct-chill casting conditions; the defects that form during solidification of those alloys are highly sensitive to variation in the alloying elements, with these elements commonly ...
