The subscapularis muscle is the largest and strongest muscle of the rotator cuff. It plays an essential role in the stability and function of the shoulder. Tears of the subscapularis tendon are more frequent than previously estimated. The worldwide use of arthroscopy in rotator cuff surgery has allowed to recognize the true prevalence of subscapularis ...

The tear film is a thin fluid film, which covers the exposed ocular surface and is essential for the health and normal function of the eye and visual system. The various components of the tear system are highly interdependent such that any abnormality in quantity or quality of the constituents can cause an imbalance in the system, leading to signs and ...

Tear film stability and tear surface tension
Current Eye Research, 1989Surface tension has been measured by the method of Ferguson and Kennedy on small (0.3-0.4 microliter) samples of tears from 65 normal and 35 dry eyes. Non-invasive break-up time (NIBUT) was also measured on the same patients as an indication of tear film stability.

An extensive exploration of lacrimal fluid molecular biomarkers in understanding and diagnosing a spectrum of ocular and systemic diseases is presented. The chapter provides an overview of lacrimal fluid composition, elucidating the roles of proteins, lipids, metabolites, and nucleic acids within the tear film.

Tear Initiation and Tear Propagation
Rubber Chemistry and Technology, 1950Abstract (1) Both the crescent and angle tests are group (2) tests; therefore the width of the sample must fee taken into account when the tear resistance is being calculated. (2) There is one exception to the above, and that is the case of knotty tears in group (2) tests. When knotty tears occur, the test becomes a direct tear test [group (1)],
