Tear film stability and tear surface tension
Current Eye Research, 1989Surface tension has been measured by the method of Ferguson and Kennedy on small (0.3-0.4 microliter) samples of tears from 65 normal and 35 dry eyes. Non-invasive break-up time (NIBUT) was also measured on the same patients as an indication of tear film stability.

Tear Initiation and Tear Propagation
Rubber Chemistry and Technology, 1950Abstract (1) Both the crescent and angle tests are group (2) tests; therefore the width of the sample must fee taken into account when the tear resistance is being calculated. (2) There is one exception to the above, and that is the case of knotty tears in group (2) tests. When knotty tears occur, the test becomes a direct tear test [group (1)],
