Investors' attention and the paradox of technologically related diversification: Evidence of stock market mispricing

open access: yesStrategic Management Journal, Volume 46, Issue 10, Page 2432-2466, October 2025.
Abstract Research Summary We show that multi‐business firms pursuing technologically related diversification often face a paradox. While such strategies can yield superior financial performance through technological synergies, investors with limited attention tend to undervalue them due to their complexity.

Relevance in Technicolor [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
In this article we propose the concept of relevance criteria profiles, which provide a global view of user behaviour in judging the relevance of retrieved information. We further propose a plotting technique which provides a session based overview of the relevance judgement processes interlaced with interactions that allow the researcher to visualise ...

La ville à l’écran : esthétique du spectaculaire et du tentaculaire dans Metropolis de Fritz Lang et Brazil de Terry Gilliam

open access: yesAnglophonia, 2009
This paper addresses the city as a cultural construct in Metropolis (Fritz Lang, 1928) and Brazil (Terry Gilliam, 1985): first as a dream space for the development of futurist architecture, then as a privileged screen-space for chiaroscuro and the German

Pushpin memoir: Making meaning out of murder

open access: yesAmerican Anthropologist, Volume 127, Issue 1, Page 158-167, March 2025.
Abstract In 2018, my brother Adam Colquhoun, nicknamed “Stretch,” was killed in a bar in Calgary, Alberta by a man he barely knew. Stretch was the kind of person society finds convenient to discard. His history of theft, illicit drug dealing, mental illness, addiction, and homelessness made his humanity “undesirable.” Nevertheless, lessons Stretch ...

Decaying Dark Atom Constituents and Cosmic Positron Excess

open access: yesAdvances in High Energy Physics, Volume 2014, Issue 1, 2014., 2014
We present a scenario where dark matter is in the form of dark atoms that can accommodate the experimentally observed excess of positrons in PAMELA and AMS‐02 while being compatible with the constraints imposed on the gamma‐ray ux from Fermi/LAT. This scenario assumes that the dominant component of dark matter is in the form of a bound state between a ...

Enduring Connexions: Reflections on fieldwork friendships and the gift

open access: yesAnthropology and Humanism, Volume 49, Issue 2, Page 162-171, December 2024.
Abstract Drawing on the life writing genres of autoethnography and autotheory, this article reflects on the author's enduring friendships with research participants in El Salvador and Cuba through the seminal anthropological concept of the gift.

Probes for 4th Generation Constituents of Dark Atoms in Higgs Boson Studies at the LHC

open access: yesAdvances in High Energy Physics, Volume 2014, Issue 1, 2014., 2014
The nonbaryonic dark matter of the Universe can consist of new stable charged species, bound in heavy neutral “atoms” by ordinary Coulomb interaction. Stable U- (anti‐U)quarks of 4th generation, bound in stable colorless (U- U- U-) clusters, are captured by the primordial helium, produced in Big Bang Nucleosynthesis, thus forming neutral “atoms” of O ...

Estimates and measurements of radiofrequency exposures in smart‐connected homes

open access: yesBioelectromagnetics, Volume 45, Issue 7, Page 329-337, October 2024.
Abstract The aim of this research was to quantify the levels of radiofrequency electromagnetic energy (RF‐EME) in a residential home/apartment equipped with a range of wireless devices, often referred to as internet of things (IoT) devices or smart devices and subsequently develop a tool that could be useful for estimating the levels of RF‐EME in a ...
