Bootstrap Dynamical Symmetry Breaking
Despite the emergence of a 125 GeV Higgs‐like particle at the LHC, we explore the possibility of dynamical electroweak symmetry breaking by strong Yukawa coupling of very heavy new chiral quarks Q. Taking the 125 GeV object to be a dilaton with suppressed couplings, we note that the Goldstone bosons G exist as longitudinal modes VL of the weak bosons ...

Flavour anomalies after the R K ∗ measurement
The LHCb measurement of the μ/e ratio R K ∗ indicates a deficit with respect to the Standard Model prediction, supporting earlier hints of lepton universality violation observed in the R K ratio.

Enduring Connexions: Reflections on fieldwork friendships and the gift
Abstract Drawing on the life writing genres of autoethnography and autotheory, this article reflects on the author's enduring friendships with research participants in El Salvador and Cuba through the seminal anthropological concept of the gift.

Yukawa Bound States and Their LHC Phenomenology
We present the current status on the possible bound states of extra generation quarks. These include phenomenology and search strategy at the LHC. If chiral fourth‐generation quarks do exist their strong Yukawa couplings, implied by current experimental lower bound on their masses, may lead to formation of bound states.

Telling abortion stories: The life of Florence P. Evans (1913–1935)
Abstract This short article provides a coda to the special forum on ‘Reproductive Rights Beyond Roe’. It merges the history of abortion with what Stéphane Gerson calls ‘personal family history’ to consider how historians should imagine, remember and narrativise histories of abortions within their own families and networks of kin.

Critical constraints on chiral hierarchies. [PDF]
Critical dynamics constrains models of dynamical electroweak symmetry breaking in which the scale of high-energy physics is far above 1 TeV. A big hierarchy requires the high-energy theory to have a second-order chiral phase transition, near which the ...

Composite dark matter and Higgs
We investigate the possibility that Dark Matter arises as a composite state of a fundamental confining dynamics, together with the Higgs boson. We focus on the minimal SU(4)×SU(4)/SU(4) model which has both a Dark Matter and a Higgs candidates arising as

The Electroweak Phase Transition in Ultra Minimal Technicolor
We unveil the temperature-dependent electroweak phase transition in new extensions of the Standard Model in which the electroweak symmetry is spontaneously broken via strongly coupled, nearly-conformal dynamics achieved by the means of multiple matter ...

Partially composite Higgs models: phenomenology and RG analysis
We study the phenomenology of partially composite-Higgs models where electroweak symmetry breaking is dynamically induced, and the Higgs is a mixture of a composite and an elementary state.

We investigate radiatively stable classes of pseudo-Nambu-Goldstone boson (pNGB) potentials for approximate spontaneously broken SO(N + 1) → SO(N). Using both the one-loop effective action and symmetry, it is shown that a Gegenbauer polynomial potential ...
