Rotation velocities of hot horizontal branch stars in the globular clusters NGC 1904, NGC 2808, NGC 6093, and NGC 7078: The database [PDF]
We present radial and rotation ($v\sin i$) velocity measurements from UVES+VLT high resolution spectra of 61 stars in the blue horizontal branches (HB) of the Galactic globular clusters NGC 1904 (M 79), NGC 2808, NGC 6093 (M 80) and NGC 7078 (M 15). The

Search for planets around young stars with the radial velocity technique
Giant planets form in circumstellar disks around young stars. Two alternative theoretical formation concepts, disk instability and core accretion, may both apply under certain conditions, but core accretion is believed to be the main mechanism. No observational proof of the dominant process has been found thus far. Therefore, this thesis aims to detect

In this study, the mechanical response of Y‐shaped core sandwich beams under compressive loading is investigated, using deep feed‐forward neural networks (DFNNs) for predictive modeling. The DFNN model accurately captures stress–strain behavior, influenced by design parameters and loading rates.

HARPS-N OBSERVES THE SUN AS A STAR [PDF]
Radial velocity (RV) perturbations induced by stellar surface inhomogeneities including spots, plages and granules currently limit the detection of Earth-twins using Doppler spectroscopy.

Bistable Mechanisms 3D Printing for Mechanically Programmable Vibration Control
This work introduces a 3D‐printed bistable mechanism integrated into tuned mass dampers (TMDs) for mechanically adaptive passive vibration suppression. Through optimized geometry, the bistable design provides adaptable vibration reduction across a broad range of scenarios, achieving effective vibration mitigation without complex controls or external ...

A Review of Progress and Applications of Pulsed Doppler Wind LiDARs
Doppler wind LiDAR (Light Detection And Ranging) makes use of the principle of optical Doppler shift between the reference and backscattered radiations to measure radial velocities at distances up to several kilometers above the ground.

Herein, silicon‐based nanoparticle coatings on X2CrNiMo17‐12‐2 metal powder are presented. The coating process scale, process parameters, nanoparticle size (65–200 nm) as well as the coating amount are discussed regarding powder properties. The surface roughness affects the flowability, while reflectance depends on the coating material and surface ...

Periodic radial velocity variations in RU Lupi [PDF]
Context. RU Lup is a Classical T Tauri star with unusually strong emission lines, which has been interpreted as manifestations of accretion. Recently, evidence has accumulated that this star might have a variable radial velocity. Aims.
