Technological power, complex systems, and boundary objects in global energy transitions

open access: yesFrontiers in Human Dynamics
This study makes a case for why the field of political ecology (PE) would benefit from deep engagement with technological power, and exemplifies this within the domain of energy studies and the ongoing transformation of the energy sector.

Golgi enzymes are retrieved from the plasma membrane to the trans‐Golgi network

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Golgi enzymes are traditionally considered resident proteins retained within the Golgi apparatus. Here, we demonstrate that a subset transiently reaches the cell surface and is subsequently retrieved to the trans‐Golgi network via retrograde transport. Using a nanobody‐based toolkit, we uncover a dynamic trafficking cycle of several Golgi enzymes.

Ligand‐dependent transcriptional heterogeneity in cell cycle gene expression delays G1/S entry

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
EGF and HRG induce distinct G1/S progression programs in ErbB2‐amplified BT474 breast cancer cells. Despite activating the potent ErbB2–ErbB3 heterodimer, HRG does not accelerate cell‐cycle entry. Instead, EGF promotes earlier restriction‐point passage via ERK–FOS signaling, whereas HRG activates the AKT–MYC axis, driving transcriptional heterogeneity ...

The fair-use of copyright objects, protected by technological protection measures, in the U.S. legislation

open access: yesRUDN Journal of Law, 2009
The provisions of technological protection measures in the United States of America are analysed with regard to the fair-use doctrine of the copyright objects. The classes of works indicated in the list of Secretary of Congress (as non-infringing uses of

Emerging experimental and computational methods for studying redox‐regulated structural transitions

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Redox reactions can reshape proteins and alter how they behave in cells, with important consequences for health and disease. This review explores emerging experimental and computational approaches for discovering these redox‐sensitive protein switches, revealing their structural effects, and predicting their behavior, opening new opportunities to ...

Simulation modeling as a means of organizing technological processes in warehouse logistics [PDF]

open access: yesE3S Web of Conferences
The results of creating a simulation model of technological processes in a warehouse are revealed in this study. The relevance of the study is justified by the significant increase in the share of online trade in the Russian economy and, as a consequence,

Translophagy—A potential link between autophagy impairment and translational errors

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Neurodegenerative diseases are characterised by the accumulation of abnormal proteins and protein aggregates, but their origin often remains unknown. We propose that selective autophagy removes damaged protein‐making machinery, preventing errors during protein synthesis.

Determination of parameters of the underground inclined coal seam mining in Quang Ninh basin under protected objects on the surface

open access: yesЗаписки Горного института, 2017
Based on analysis of mining and geological conditions of natural occurrence of coal seams at Quang Ninh basin it has been determined that more than 37 % of deposit reserves are located under the protected surface objects. To justify the possible variants

Structural and biochemical analysis of a B12 superbinder

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
BtuG proteins are vitamin B12 scavengers in Bacteroides thetaiotaomicron, a dominant human gut bacterium. We present crystal structures of three BtuG homologs bound to cobalamin and its precursor cobinamide, revealing picomolar binding affinities, among the highest known for any natural protein.

The application of terrestrial laser scanning for spatial visualization of laboratories of the BERG faculty [PDF]

open access: yesActa Montanistica Slovaca, 2012
This paper deals with current technological possibilities in surveying for fast measurement of objects – buildings, interiors, exteriors and their almost immediate visualization or further planning of changes – reconstruction, preparation of design ...
