The malate–aspartate shuttle supports thermogenic lipid mobilization in brown adipocytes

open access: yesThe FEBS Journal, EarlyView.
Brown fat cells burn lipids within their mitochondria to generate heat. This process involves two energy “shuttles,” one of which is naturally blocked during heat production. We found that the second shuttle (MASh) is not required to generate heat. However, when MASh is disabled, the fatty acids meant for fuel are instead converted back into stored fat.

On Integral Priors for Multiple Comparison in Bayesian Model Selection

open access: yesInternational Statistical Review, EarlyView.
Summary Noninformative priors constructed for estimation purposes are usually not appropriate for model selection and testing. The methodology of integral priors was developed to get prior distributions for Bayesian model selection when comparing two models, modifying initial improper reference priors. We propose a generalisation of this methodology to

Incident Lung Cancer and Mortality: Data From Health ABC Using Periodontal Status and Tooth Loss

open access: yesOral Diseases, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Aim To evaluate whether periodontal parameters and tooth loss are associated with lung cancer incidence and mortality among older adults. Materials and Methods Data are from the Health, Aging and Body Composition (Health ABC) study, which included 1136 older adults who received a periodontal examination and were followed for up to 16 years ...

Effects of Diactive‐1–Supported Progressive Resistance Training on Body Composition in Youth With Type 1 Diabetes

open access: yesJournal of Cachexia, Sarcopenia and Muscle, Volume 17, Issue 2, April 2026.
ABSTRACT Background Compared to their healthy peers, children and adolescents with type 1 diabetes are at an increased risk of adverse changes in body composition, including increased fat mass along with reductions in lean and bone mass. Although exercise has shown promise in improving body mass index in this population, the individual effects of ...

The Open Reading Frame 7b of the SARS‐CoV‐2 Disperse Trans‐Golgi and Activate the NLRP3 Inflammasome

open access: yesJournal of Medical Virology, Volume 98, Issue 4, April 2026.
ABSTRACT Inflammasomes orchestrate the inflammatory response against bacterial and viral infections, thereby initiating the synthesis of pro‐inflammatory cytokines, mainly IL‐1β and IL‐18. SARS‐CoV‐2 infection induces an inflammatory response mediated by the activation of NLRP1 and NLRP3 inflammasomes.

Circulating miR-126 and miR-155 are associated with environmental lead exposure: A translational approach via human biomonitoring and bioinformatic networks

open access: yesToxicology Reports
Exposure to environmental contaminants, particularly lead (Pb), has increased due to anthropogenic activities and has been associated with epigenetic alterations, including changes in microRNA (miRNA) expression.

Intein‐based modular chimeric antigen receptor platform for specific CD19/CD20 co‐targeting

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, Volume 20, Issue 3, Page 850-862, March 2026.
CARtein is a modular CAR platform that uses split inteins to splice antigen‐recognition modules onto a universal signaling backbone, enabling precise, scarless assembly without re‐engineering signaling domains. Deployed here against CD19 and CD20 in B‐cell malignancies, the design supports flexible multi‐antigen targeting to boost T‐cell activation and
