Isolation and Phytotoxicity of Terpenes from Tectona grandis
Journal of Chemical Ecology, 2010A study was carried out on the allelopathic potential of four forest species, Tectona grandis, Aleurites fordii, Gliricidia sepium, and Maytenus buxifolia. The most active species, T. grandis, was selected to perform a phytochemical study. A new compound, abeograndinoic acid, was isolated, and elucidation of its structure showed that this compound has ...

Bioactive apocarotenoids from Tectona grandis
Phytochemistry, 2008The bioactive fractions of Tectona grandis have yielded seven apocarotenoids, two of which have been isolated for the first time as natural products (tectoionols A and B). The chemical structures were determined through 1D and 2D nuclear magnetic resonance experiments.

Isozyme variation among teak (Tectona grandis L.f.) provenances
Theoretical and Applied Genetics, 1995Fourteen enzyme systems were analysed in leaf parenchyma of nine native and introduced populations of teak. These enzyme systems were encoded by 20 putative loci of which 18 were polymorphic. Populations showed a general lack of heterozygosity (average FIS = 0.11).

Note: A NAPHTHOQUINONE DERIVATIVE FROM TECTONA GRANDIS (LINN.)
Journal of Asian Natural Products Research, 2004A new naphthoquinone derivative has been isolated, along with a number of prenylnaphthoquinone congeners, from the heartwood of Tectona grandis (Linn.). It was characterized as dehydro-alpha-isodunnione (1) by careful analysis of its spectral data.

TREE BREEDING WITH TEAK (TECTONA GRANDIS)
Australian Forestry, 1962SUMMARY Teak is one of the most important commercial trees in the tropical lowlands. Considerable attention is toeing devoted to tree breeding with teak in countries possessing1 indigenous forests. The importance of selecting provenance strains and of tree breeding work in countries establishing exotic teak forests is stressed.

A 1,4-Anthraquinone derivative from Tectona grandis
Phytochemistry, 1989Abstract A petrol extract of the heartwood of Tectona qrandis afforded a new 9,10-dimethoxy-2-methyl anthra-1,4- quinone along with tecomaquinone I and several known naptho- and anthra-quinone derivatives. The structure of the new quinone was elucidated by high field 1 H NMR and NOE studies.

Insect pollinators of teak (Tectona grandis) in Kerala
Indian Journal of Forestry, 2009Insects play a major role in pollination of teak. Insect visitation was observed to commence in the morning and continued till noon after which the activity decreased. Maximum insect visit coincided with the anthesis, which occurred from 8 AM to 12 PM. Insects observed on the teak florescence belonged to the orders Hymenoptera, Lepidoptera, Coleoptera,
