Experimental study on the guiding effect of tectonic coal for coal and gas outburst

Fuel, 2022
Abstract The guiding effect of tectonic coal on outburst was analyzed by combining typical outburst cases, and the physical simulation experiment was carried out to reproduce the influences of tectonic coal area on the outburst. Then, the guiding action mechanism of tectonic coal on the outburst was investigated.

Coal-Producing Tectonic Environments

1992
This final chapter in the investigation of coal sedimentation is concerned with depositional aspects of the highest order of magnitude, namely, the influence of the crustal setting on peat accumulation. This is a broad and complex field which draws on information gathered from many different disciplines of the earth sciences.

Structure and coalbed methane occurrence in tectonically deformed coals

Science China Earth Sciences, 2012
Research on structure of tectonically deformed coals (TDC) is a key issue in coal and gas outburst prevention and coalbed methane (CBM) exploitation. This paper presents a summary on the research progress in TDC’s structural-genetic classification, tectonic strain influence on coal microstructure, coal porosity system, coal chemical structure and ...

New Insights into Failure Behaviors of Tectonic Coal Under Triaxial Conditions Using Reconstituted Coal Specimens

Rock Mechanics and Rock Engineering, 2021
Coal and gas outburst is tightly related to the existence of tectonic coal. Because large blocks of tectonic coals are difficult to be collected, reconstituted coal specimens are often used to study the mechanical properties. In this study, reconstituted coal specimens were prepared under different external forces. Then, triaxial compression tests were

Modern tectonic stress field deeply in Xuzhou Coal Mine

Journal of Coal Science and Engineering (China), 2013
By inverting fault slip data, the parameters of 12 tectonic stress tensors in the mine region can be determined. The following characteristics can be obtained for recent tectonic stress fields, which are found deep in the study region. The results show that the recent tectonic stress field mainly presents the characteristics of near NWW-SSE maximum ...

Coal Resources and Tectonic Division of Ordos Basin

Advanced Materials Research, 2013
The Ordos Basin is the richest area of coal resources in China, which has an important position in China's coal resources prospecting and exploitation. Through the application of coalfield geology and geodynamics, this paper analyzes the distribution of coal resources of the Ordos Basin. It carries out the research in coalfield tectonic zoning, and the

Macromolecular evolution and structural defects in tectonically deformed coals

Fuel, 2019
Abstract Here, the differential macromolecular evolutions and the structural defects in various TDCs (tectonically deformed coals) were profoundly investigated utilizing the 13C NMR, FTIR, Raman, and DFT (density function theory) calculations. The increasing aromatics provides evidences for advance evolution for aromatic clusters induced by dynamic ...

Characterization of the Chemical Structure of Tectonically Deformed Coals

Energy & Fuels, 2017
Tectonic deformation damages the macromolecular structures of coal. No evidence can be found of tectonically deformed coal (TDC) structures, in which traces of lattice defects exist. In this study, the mechanisms of ductile deformation and the evolution of the molecular structure have been investigated using coal samples collected from one thrust fault

Types of Coal-Bearing Basin and Tectonic Unit in the Northwest Coal Hosting Area

Advanced Materials Research, 2015
Coal is typical of sedimentary deposits, Occurrence in a coal basin. The original nearly horizontal continuous coal seam was divided into different size; different depth containing coal segment by late tectonic movement, but its scope is not affected by today's "basin" restrictions.

Tectonics and deep-seated metamorphism of Kuznetsk basin coals

International Geology Review, 1965
A very interesting summary on the correlative relation of coal metamorphism to tectonic history of the sedimentary basins involved. The author believes that coal metamorphism at depth is wholly determined by the tectonic history of the basin and therefore can be used in working out this history in full detail.
