Effect of Deviatoric Stress on Deformation Energy of Tectonic Coal: A Modified Energy Model Considering Nonlinearity

open access: yesEnergy Science & Engineering
The deformation energy stored in soil‐like tectonic coal plays a critical role in coal and gas outbursts. Unlike hard rocks, tectonic coal exhibits pronounced stress–strain nonlinearity, invalidating traditional elastic energy models.

Fracture evolution of a thick soft protection layer and the water inrush mechanism in overburden under longwall mining

open access: yesDeep Underground Science and Engineering, EarlyView.
Through shear–tensile creep tests and viscoelastic modeling, the fracture evolution of thick soft protective layers is clarified. Results show thickness‐dependent rheological failure modes that govern four types of roof water inrush, providing a mechanism‐based framework for hazard prediction and control. Abstract In the Jurassic coal‐bearing strata of

Research progress and current status of dynamic wave propagation characteristics in rock mass: A review

open access: yesDeep Underground Science and Engineering, EarlyView.
This review elucidates the velocity–dispersion–attenuation coupling mechanisms of wave propagation in rock masses, compares six representative models, and reveals how pressure, temperature, mineral composition, and anisotropy jointly control dynamic responses in complex geological media.

Shear deformation of fold structures in coal measure strata and coal-gas outbursts: Constraint and mechanism

open access: yesEnergy Exploration & Exploitation, 2018
The coal measure strata formed in the late Paleozoic era underwent tectonic movements on several occasions, leading to the development of a range of fold structures in the strata as a result of highly interlayered gliding and shearing deformation.

Mechanism and disaster control new technology of strong ground pressure manifestation in ultra‐large mining face

open access: yesDeep Underground Science and Engineering, EarlyView.
In response to the problem of strong mining pressure manifestation along the goaf roadway in a thick coal seam mining area, this study uses a new type of combined blasting roof cutting technology to effectively control the manifestation and deformation of mining pressure along the goaf roadway.

Tectonic control law and zoning division of coalmine gas occurrence in Shanxi Province

open access: yesEnergy Exploration & Exploitation
The frequent occurrence of gas disasters in coal mines is primarily attributed to an unclear understanding of gas occurrence laws. Tectonic control law of coalmine gas occurrence in Shanxi Province was analyzed by utilizing massive gas-geology data of ...

Dynamic geo‐hydrogeological monitoring‐driven situational awareness for real‐time floor water inrush risk prediction in deep mining

open access: yesDeep Underground Science and Engineering, EarlyView.
The fused data extracted from the distributed monitoring system as the data basis, combined with dynamic geological data, are imported into a deep learning model. As the geological conditions of mining and excavation change, the risk of water inrush at the working face is retrieved in real time.

The Effect of a Tectonic Stress Field on Coal and Gas Outbursts

open access: yesThe Scientific World Journal, 2014
Coal and gas outbursts have always been a serious threat to the safe and efficient mining of coal resources. Ground stress (especially the tectonic stress) has a notable effect on the occurrence and distribution of outbursts in the field practice.
