Sedimentary lithofacies, petrography and diagenesis of the Kapuni group in the Kapuni Field, Taranaki Basin, New Zealand : a thesis presented in partial fulfilment of the requirements for the degree of Master of Science with Honours in Earth Science at Massey University, Palmerston North, New Zealand [PDF]
The reservoir architecture and quality of the Kapuni Group sandstones in seven wells (Kapuni−1, −3, −8, −12, Deep−1, 14 and −15) in the Kapuni Field are characterised using available core and digital geophysical log data.

Abstract Conventional beamforming of multi‐component ambient seismic noise typically utilizes only the vertical‐vertical (ZZ) component to extract Rayleigh wave dispersion curves or the transverse‐transverse (TT) component for Love waves. In this study, we extend weighted and modified beamforming to cross‐correlation functions between different ...

Abstract Mercury's tectonic record is dominated by shortening landforms, including lobate scarps, high‐relief ridges and wrinkle ridges. Previous analyses of these structures have used displacement–length ratios to constrain the planet's global contraction to a range of either no more than 2 km or up to 7 km.

Abstract Previous analyses of Mercury's tectonic record have arrived at widely varying amounts of global contraction. Contraction also varies spatially, with some regions displaying a near‐zero record of contraction. Here, we investigate the contribution of membrane–flexural strain from lithosphere loading to the tectonic record.

Abstract An important problem in the Earth sciences is extracting information about tectonic and other processes from topography. A general challenge is that geomorphic activity that we typically have little information about during the lifetime of a landscape can introduce geomorphic “noise”.

GeoFWI: A Large Velocity Model Data Set for Benchmarking Full Waveform Inversion Using Deep Learning
Abstract Full waveform inversion (FWI) plays an increasingly important role in the field of seismic imaging due to its strong ability to estimate subsurface properties. Specifically, data‐driven FWI (DDFWI) establishes a straightforward mapping relationship between seismic data and the corresponding velocity model, yielding promising results.

Rethinking Collinearity in Self‐Organizing Maps: Evidence From Geophysical Data Classification
Abstract This study examines the impact of collinearity on unsupervised machine learning algorithms (UMLAs), specifically Self‐Organizing Maps (SOMs), for detecting lithological boundaries in geophysical data. Using a multi‐scale experimental framework that includes bivariate isotropic clusters, geologically complex Noddy simulations, and real‐world ...

Abstract This study focuses on the clustered landslide event triggered by intense rainfall on 16 June 2024 in the Fujian–Guangdong–Jiangxi border region, aiming to develop an efficient deep learning model for high‐accuracy landslide susceptibility mapping. Based on the mapped landslide distribution and insights from field investigations, we constructed
