Geodetic model of the 2016 Central Italy earthquake sequence inferred from InSAR and GPS data [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
We investigate a large geodetic data set of interferometric synthetic aperture radar (InSAR)and GPS measurements to determine the source parameters for the three main shocks of the 2016Central Italy earthquake sequence on 24 August and 26 and 30 October (

OpenMP Implementation of a Novel Potential-Field-Data Source-Growth-Based Inversion Approach for 3D Salt Imaging in Deepwater Gulf of Mexico

open access: yesApplied Sciences, 2020
Potential-field-data imaging of complex geological features in deepwater salt-tectonic regions in the Gulf of Mexico remains an open active research field.

Evidence of Quaternary tectonics along Río Grande valley, southern Malargüe fold and thrust belt, Mendoza, Argentina [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
The Malargüe fold and thrust belt is developed in the Argentinian Andes between 34° and 37° S, through the tectonic inversion of Upper Triassic and Lower Jurassic depocenters of the Neuquén Basin, with an uplift history since the Cretaceous.

Magnetic Inversion and Regional Tectonics of the Dabie Orogen

open access: yesMagnetochemistry, 2023
Physical property inversion techniques are the methods to reveal the internal structures of Earth’s lithosphere. In this study, we introduce an Occam-type inversion algorithm into a spherical coordinate system, and invert the magnetization based on the three-component magnetic anomalies.

Creep properties and constitutive model of diabase in deep water conveyance tunnels

open access: yesDeep Underground Science and Engineering, EarlyView.
The axial and lateral creep characteristics of diabase were analyzed based on compression creep tests. The nonlinear viscoelastic‐plastic model capable of describing the whole creep process was established based on the fractional derivative and damage theories.

Folding and inversion tectonics in the Anti‐Atlas of Morocco [PDF]

open access: yesTectonics, 2004
The late Variscan Anti‐Atlas of Morocco shows some conspicuous deviations from the standard anatomy of foreland fold‐and‐thrust belts. Large basement inliers crop out at a very short distance of less than 50 km behind the southeastern front of the fold belt, reminiscent of Windriver‐style basement uplifts.

Generalized Matsuoka–Nakai criterion considering hydrostatic pressure dependence in the brittle–ductile region

open access: yesDeep Underground Science and Engineering, EarlyView.
Three sets of strength data were selected, including hydrostatic pressure independent within the brittle region (HPI‐B), hydrostatic pressure dependent within the brittle region (HPD‐B), and hydrostatic pressure dependent within the brittle–ductile region (HPD‐BD). For HPI type, the failure envelope within the deviatoric plane remains constant.

Is clustered seismicity an indicator of regional stress? Insights from earthquake sequences in Yongning-Luguhu faulted basin, Southwest China

open access: yesEarthquake Research Advances, 2022
Using hypocenter relocation, moment tensor inversion, stress field inversion, and fault slip tendency analysis, this study systematically investigated three M5.5–5.8 earthquake sequences that occurred after 2000 in the Yongning-Luguhu faulted basin in ...
