Mechanism and disaster control new technology of strong ground pressure manifestation in ultra‐large mining face

open access: yesDeep Underground Science and Engineering, EarlyView.
In response to the problem of strong mining pressure manifestation along the goaf roadway in a thick coal seam mining area, this study uses a new type of combined blasting roof cutting technology to effectively control the manifestation and deformation of mining pressure along the goaf roadway.

Remote-sensing of tectonic-induced stress across faults using high energy muon beams

open access: yesPhysical Review Research
We illustrate a theoretical study of a technique using high-energy muon beams (TeV class) propagating through thick (kilometer-long) crystalline rock layers subject to tectonic-induced stress, potentially capable of actively monitoring the temporal ...

Tectonic stress fields in Northeast Bulgaria

open access: yesGeologica Balcanica, 1990
The reconstruction of the stress fields in Northeast Bulgaria by means of tectonic fracture patterns and physical anisotropy of rock species from the Lower Cretaceous period up to the Upper Pliocene shows that in the investigated area exists a stable trend towards a clockwise rotati on of the maximum and minimum compress ion axes.

The complexity of 3D stress-state changes during compressional tectonic inversion at the onset of orogeny

open access: yes, 2012
Compressional tectonic inversions are classically represented in 2D brittle failure mode (BFM) plots that illustrate the change in differential stress (s1 2s3) versus the pore-fluid pressure during orogenic shortening.

Dynamic geo‐hydrogeological monitoring‐driven situational awareness for real‐time floor water inrush risk prediction in deep mining

open access: yesDeep Underground Science and Engineering, EarlyView.
The fused data extracted from the distributed monitoring system as the data basis, combined with dynamic geological data, are imported into a deep learning model. As the geological conditions of mining and excavation change, the risk of water inrush at the working face is retrieved in real time.

Neogene paleomagnetism and geodynamics of the Hikurangi margin, East Coast, New Zealand [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
Vertical-axis rotations are an important component of Neogene deformation in the New Zealand plate boundary region, and potentially offer fundamental insights into the rheology of continental crust.

Seismic analysis and design of tunnels within fault ground: A review

open access: yesDeep Underground Science and Engineering, EarlyView.
The research methods of seismic response of tunnels within fault ground, including field investigations, analytical solutions, physical experiments, and numerical simulations, and seismic countermeasures are discussed. The present study examines the shortcomings and limitations of the current research and design, and puts forward proposals for future ...

Unveiling spatial heterogeneity in urban underground space development patterns and mechanisms for differentiated planning: A points of interest‐based study of Shanghai

open access: yesDeep Underground Science and Engineering, EarlyView.
This study investigated the spatial patterns and development mechanisms of urban underground space (UUS) in Shanghai using underground points of interest data. It revealed distinct development mechanisms between the main city and suburbs, highlighting the need for differentiated UUS planning and policies to optimize underground space resources ...

Research on quantitative prediction method of structural fractures in metamorphic rock reservoirs

open access: yesScientific Reports
Deeply buried hill reservoirs have experienced tectonic movement during different periods, and tectonic fractures are well developed in metamorphic reservoirs, making quantitative characterization and spatial distribution prediction of fractures more ...

Evolution of the Yorkshire, sole pit and east midland basin system, U.K [PDF]

open access: yes, 1990
The objective of this study is to examine the thermo-mechanical evolution of the Yorkshire(Cleveland), Sole Pit and East Midland Basins, Southern North Sea using theoretical models of basin formation(subsidence) and basin destruction(inversion ...
