Optimization method for predicting coal reservoir fractures in the Laochang area of Eastern Yunnan using paleotectonic stress inversion

open access: yesFrontiers in Earth Science
IntroductionCoal reservoir fractures serve as critical storage spaces and migration pathways for coalbed methane (CBM), significantly influencing CBM enrichment. The characteristics of coal reservoir fracture development can be obtained using traditional

Contemporary tectonic stress field in China [PDF]

open access: yesEarthquake Science, 2010
The contemporary tectonic stress field in China is obtained on the basis of Chinese stress field database and Harvard CMT catalogue. Result of the inverted tectonic stresses shows that the maximum principal stress axis strikes nearly north-south direction in the west part of Tibet plateau, ENE direction in North China.

Calculating horizontal stress orientations with full or partial knowledge of the tectonic stress tensor

open access: yes, 2007
Earthquakes potentially serve as abundant and cost-effective gauges of tectonic stress provided that reliable means exist of extracting robust stress parameters.

GEODYNAMIC ACTIVITY OF MODERN STRUCTURES AND TECTONIC STRESS FIELDS IN NORTHEAST ASIA [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Based on the analysis of changes in the stress-strain state of the crust at the boundary of the Eurasian and North American tectonic plates, we develop a dynamic model of the main seismogenerating structures inNortheast Asia.

Evolution of the overlying strata structure and characteristics of ground pressure behavior under the influence of tectonic stress

open access: yesFrontiers in Earth Science
The evolution of overlying strata structures significantly influences the manifestation of ground pressure behavior in working faces. The mechanism through which tectonic stress influences the evolution of overlying rock structures remains unclear.

Seismicity of the Noto Peninsula: Spatial Patterns, Shallow Seismic Zones, and Possible Volcano-Related Signals

open access: yesTrends in Ecological and Indoor Environmental Engineering
Background: Japan's complex tectonic setting produces intense seismicity, yet reliable earthquake prediction remains unresolved. Recent data-driven approaches suggest that classical models may be insufficient, highlighting the value of exploratory ...
