Modern tectonic stress field in Southwest Yunnan, China

Acta Seismologica Sinica, 2001
By means of inversion of fault slip data, the parameters of 20 tectonic stress tensors in Southwest Yunnan region are determined. Compared with the average stress field of the region obtained from focal mechanism solutions, the following characteristics of modern tectonic stress field in this region are obtained.

Tectonic Stress Fields and Karst

2014
Many natural causes exist controlling the formation of fractures. The rock properties relating to the brittleness is one of the most important of them for the variations in natural fracture density. These properties may vary from regional to local scale; they may vary significantly within the rock formations and between formations.

Tectonic stress field in East Eurasia

Physics of the Earth and Planetary Interiors, 1983
Abstract The overall pattern of the recent tectonic stress field in the eastern part of the Eurasian plate is inferred from the geological features of large transcurrent and reverse faults, graben structures and from focal mechanism solutions of shallow earthquakes. NE-SW striking trajectory lines, of maximum horizontal tectonic stress axis (σ Hmax),

Modern tectonic stress field deeply in Xuzhou Coal Mine

Journal of Coal Science and Engineering (China), 2013
By inverting fault slip data, the parameters of 12 tectonic stress tensors in the mine region can be determined. The following characteristics can be obtained for recent tectonic stress fields, which are found deep in the study region. The results show that the recent tectonic stress field mainly presents the characteristics of near NWW-SSE maximum ...

Recent tectonic stress field research in Shanxi graben system

Acta Seismologica Sinica, 1998
By comprehension of earthquake focal mechanism solutions and the data of in-situ stress measurements, the tectonic stress field in Shanxi region has been summarized, which indicate that the stress state in this region is different from that of its eastern surrounding regions.

Present-day stress field and tectonic inversion in the Pannonian basin

Global and Planetary Change, 2007
This paper presents a latest compilation of data on the present-day stress pattern in the Pannonian basin, and its tectonic environment, the Alpine-Dinaric orogens. Extensional formation of the basin system commenced in the early Miocene, whereas its structural reactivation, in the form of gradual basin inversion, has been taking place since Pliocene ...

Some considerations on the recent tectonic stress field of China

Tectonophysics, 1985
Abstract Based on the improved hydrofracturing method, the in-situ principal stresses are determined in the north, northeast, south and the northwest of China, and the results of many fault-plane solutions, crustal deformations, geological and geophysical observations are used to discuss the distribution of subcrustal stress in space, the difference ...

Focal mechanisms and tectonic stress field of the Xinfengjiang earthquake

Acta Seismologica Sinica, 1992
Altogether 83 events were recorded clearly by all the 8 sub-seismometric stations of the telemetrered seismic network in the Xinfengjiang area during the period from October 1st 1983 to April 30th 1987. Based upon the difference of the initial motion of P waves, the authors divided the 83 earthquakes into 37 pattens.

Basic characteristics of recent tectonic stress field in southwest China

Acta Seismologica Sinica, 1993
Direction and structure characteristics of 58 tectonic stress tensors have been determined in 41 surveyed areas (points) in the southwestern district of China through a calculation method for inversion of tectonic stress tensors from sliding direction of faults, and, in combination with seismic mechanism solution andin-situ stress measurements, the ...

The tectonic stress field evolution of India since the Oligocene

Gondwana Research, 2015
Abstract A multitude of observations suggest neotectonic deformation in and around India, but its causes and history are unknown. We use a 2 dimensional finite element model with heterogeneous elastic strengths in continental regions to model the regional stress field orientation and relative magnitudes since the Oligocene. The large-scale geological
