The present study uses the Modified Mohr‐Coulomb true‐triaxial failure criterion (MMC_TT), which predicts the strength of rock better than the MGC criterion in laboratory true‐triaxial tests to overcome the limitations. Moreover, based on the data from previously published five vertical wells in the Krishna‐Godavari basin (K‐G basin), an empirical ...

Modes of occurrence and origin of tungsten in the M3 coal seam of Neogene from the Puyang Coal Mine
Critical minerals in coal deposits have attracted much attention in recent years because of their potential economic significance. However, these critical minerals are becoming scarce and expensive as their resources in conventional ores are exhausted ...

Global Fe–O isotope correlation reveals magmatic origin of Kiruna-type apatite-iron-oxide ores
The origin of giant Kiruna-type iron ores has been debated for nearly 100 years. This study employs extensive stable isotope data from Kiruna-type ores worldwide and magmatic and hydrothermal reference materials to show that iconic Kiruna-type ores ...

Blasting effects of cross‐fault deep‐buried excavation on adjacent existing tunnel stability
Based on the theoretical analysis of cylindrical wave propagation in a deep rock mass in the fault with a filling layer, the calculation method of peak particle velocity caused by wave propagation in the existing tunnel is established. The viscoelastic characteristics of a rock mass are examined in the analysis.

Plate tectonics is the root concept underpinning our current knowledge of how Earth's internal dynamics are linked to geologic deformation at the surface. Since the discovery of plate tectonics in the 1960s, geoscientists have developed a first-order understanding of a plate system in which the Earth's surface is broken into about a dozen mostly rigid ...

In this study, the nonuniform distribution of the bearing pressure in front of the coal wall has been revealed based on in situ monitoring data and numerical simulation results. Therefore, an eccentric compression mechanical model of the coal wall was established to study the deformation and failure characteristics of a coal wall. The slenderness ratio

Evidence and concerns about a latent, embryonic phase tectonic evolution and the existence of the young subsurface ocean on Mimas [PDF]
New models challenge the long-standing conclusion about Mimas, an icy satellite of Saturn, being an inactive snowball, suggesting the existence of a young stealth ocean. Unfortunately, no observable evidence has been found yet implying tectonic activity and the theoretical subsurface ocean.
