Lithofacies paleogeography of the Ordovician Kelimoli-Lashizhong formations along the western margin of the Ordos Basin

open access: yesMeitian dizhi yu kantan
ObjectiveThe period during the deposition of the Middle-Late Ordovician Kelimoli-Lashizhong formations witnessed a key transition of the tectonic framework along the western margin of the Ordos Basin. Investigating the lithofacies paleogeography of these

Sedimentary facies and architecture of mixed bioclastic‐siliciclastic deposits forming in an inferred strait environment: An example from the Early Pleistocene of Calabria, southern Italy

open access: yesThe Depositional Record, Volume 11, Issue 5, Page 1329-1353, November 2025.
Early Pleistocene mixed arenites and their associated conglomerates and sandstones were studied in detail in Calabria, southern Italy. This study suggests that the studied palaeo‐strait was not necessarily a wider and similarly oriented expression of the modern Strait of Messina.

The Cenomanian–Turonian boundary interval in the Western Canada Foreland Basin: Stratigraphy, geochemistry, geochronology and sea‐level changes recorded in expanded and condensed clastic successions

open access: yesThe Depositional Record, Volume 11, Issue 5, Page 1200-1258, November 2025.
Shallow‐marine mudstone of the Cretaceous Kaskapau Formation in the British Columbia foredeep preserves a 185 m thick record of OAE2. The organic carbon‐isotope and osmium‐isotope excursions can be correlated in detail with other Cenomanian–Turonian boundary sections around the world.

Reconstructing Early Cenozoic Paleodrainage and Tectonic Evolution in the Southeastern Tibetan Plateau: Evidence From Detrital Zircon and Tourmaline Provenance

open access: yesGeochemistry, Geophysics, Geosystems, Volume 26, Issue 10, October 2025.
Abstract The Paleogene sedimentary basins of southeastern Tibet record sediment dispersal patterns associated with crustal deformation during the early stages of the India–Asia collision. We present detrital zircon U–Pb geochronology, tourmaline geochemistry, and petrographic data from the Gonjo and Mangkang basins that suggest a reginal interconnected

Kinematic Evolution of the Cephalonia‐Lefkada Transform Fault Zone: Strain Partitioning in Response to Subduction Margin Dynamics

open access: yesTectonics, Volume 44, Issue 10, October 2025.
Abstract The eastern Adriatic margin is composed by an Ocean‐Continent Transition lithosphere (OCT), resulting in the southwards along‐strike variation from collision to subduction. The Cephalonia‐Lefkada Transform Fault zone (CTF) is a right‐lateral strike‐slip fault system located above the OCT and associated to this kinematic transition.

Hothouse Hydrology: Evolving River Dynamics in the Eocene Montllobat and Castissent Formations, Southern Pyrenees

open access: yesBasin Research, Volume 37, Issue 5, September–October 2025.
We use palaeohydrology to quantify landscape‐scale geomorphic change in the Eocene Southern Pyrenean foreland. In response to hyperthermal events and tectonics during mountain‐building, rivers became suddenly steeper and faster, with enhanced water and sediment flux and a marked change in planform.

Coupling Phase Equilibrium Modelling and Apatite‐in‐Garnet Elastic Barometry to Unravel the P–T Path of the Micaschist Unit From the Zicavo Metamorphic Complex (Corsica, France)

open access: yesJournal of Metamorphic Geology, Volume 43, Issue 7, Page 681-705, September 2025.
ABSTRACT To gain insights into the pressure–temperature evolution of a scarcely studied portion of the Variscan basement of Corsica in southern Europe, we combined phase equilibrium modelling, Zr‐in‐rutile thermometry and apatite‐in‐garnet elastic barometry. We investigated Grt‐St micaschist rocks containing garnet grains of several millimetres in size

Building Topography in a Continental Subduction Orogen: Insights From Geomorphic Analysis and 10Be Denudation Rates of the Albanides

open access: yesTectonics, Volume 44, Issue 7, July 2025.
Abstract Understanding the relationship between surface and deep geological processes in tectonically active settings is crucial for unraveling the factors controlling landscape evolution and topographic growth. Here, we present the first basin‐averaged 10Be‐derived denudation rates for the Albanides, a subduction orogen in the Central Mediterranean ...

The Inter‐Cratonic Neoproterozoic Katangan Basin of Central Africa: Rift Basin Formation, Orogenic Inversion and Potential Fluid Pathways

open access: yesTectonics, Volume 44, Issue 7, July 2025.
Abstract The tectono‐stratigraphic development of continental basins is critical to an understanding of continental tectonics and the formation of metal deposits. The Neoproterozoic, inter‐cratonic Katangan copper basin of Central Africa records a tectono‐stratigraphic evolution and the generation of potential metal transporting fluid pathways ...

The Role of Transpressional Tectonics, Volcanism, and Fluvial Processes on the Oligocene to Pliocene Evolution of Intermontane Basins of the Western Colombian Andes

open access: yesTectonics, Volume 44, Issue 3, March 2025.
Abstract We use new and published detrital zircon U‐Pb data (n > 10,000) from Oligocene‐Pliocene strata of intermontane basins of the western Colombian Andes and surrounding regions to study the evolution of sedimentary systems during the transition from arc collision/accretion to subduction.
