Preliminary results from a search for regional tectonomagnetic effects in California and western Nevada

Tectonophysics, 1974
Abstract Physical theory and laboratory experiments both indicate that tectonomagnetic effects in seismically active areas should be detected with highly sensitive drift-free differential magnetometers. By using a pair of synchronized 0.25 7 absolute magnetometers to measure precisely field differences between 70 adjacent sites with a 10–15 km ...

Accumulation of elastic strains in the upper crust on the locked transform faults and the tectonomagnetic effect

Izvestiya, Physics of the Solid Earth, 2016
Plate tectonics only allows small deformations in the lithospheric plates. The laboratory experiments with the rock specimens show that the creep is transient when the creep strain is at most 1%. Hence, if we assume that the creep strain in the lithospheric plates is below this threshold, the creep is transient.
