Clinical Pediatrics, 1981In an effort to provide the clinician with suggestions for preventive and remedial approaches to adolescent pregnancy, the nature, medical, social, eco nomic, and psychological aspects of the problem are reviewed and discussed. While the rate of adolescent pregnancy is declining, there are more than 560,000 deliveries to teenagers annually.

The Lancet, 1969Abstract In England and Wales, between 1956 and 1966, the number of pregnancies in girls aged thirteen to fifteen has risen from 269 to 1288 per year. Mostly these are girls aged fifteen and the proportion in this age-group who become pregnant each year has risen from 0.8 to 3.28 per 1000 between 1956 and 1966.

The author argues that society's negative attitude to young mothers marginalises an already excluded group and that efforts should be focused on support.
