Application of Photogrammetry and Mesh Comparison in the Study of Human Cranial Morphology

open access: yesInternational Journal of Osteoarchaeology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Photogrammetric methods for generating three‐dimensional (3D) models are becoming increasingly widespread in the fields of archaeology and biological anthropology. In particular, the study of the variability of skull morphology (generated by the ancestry of the individual or by the application of certain cultural practices) using 3D models is ...

Tailored Mandibular Advancement Therapy Guided Through a Mandibular Positioner: Predictive Value in Obstructive Sleep Apnea

open access: yesOtolaryngology–Head and Neck Surgery, EarlyView.
Abstract Objective Mandibular advancement devices (MADs) are a recognized alternative to continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP) for treating obstructive sleep apnea (OSA), though patient selection is still challenging. Tailored MAD guided through drug induced sleep endoscopy (DISE) with a mandibular titratable positioner (SAM) offers a stable and ...

Home and away: allometry and climate drive morphology of European rabbits in their native and introduced range

open access: yesOikos, EarlyView.
Climatic conditions shape phenotypic evolution by driving adaptations that optimise organismal function. Invasive species provide valuable systems to study these processes, as they often encounter novel climatic conditions in their introduced ranges. The European rabbit Oryctolagus cuniculus, native to the Iberian Peninsula, has established populations

The Tales Teeth Tell: Development, Evolution, Behavior

open access: yes, 2018
Our teeth have intriguing stories to tell. These sophisticated time machines record growth, diet, and evolutionary history as clearly as tree rings map a redwood's lifespan.

Predictability of obstructive sleep apnea with a somesthetic screening score: Development and preliminary validation in a prospective study

open access: yesSleep Research, EarlyView.
This prospective study developed a two‐step clinical scoring system for obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) screening based on patients’ somesthetic perception of oropharyngeal airflow. The Intermediate Score (IS ≥ 7.5) achieved 73% sensitivity and 77% specificity (AUC = 0.7754; OR = 8.96).

A Luminescent PEI/Cy5‐Citrate‐Functionalized Carbonated Apatite Nanoplatform for In Vitro Gene Delivery and In Vivo Traceability

open access: yesSmall, EarlyView.
A luminescent PEI/Cy5‐citrate‐functionalized carbonated apatite nanoplatform combines biocompatibility, plasmid delivery, and Cy5‐based traceability. The system enables effective in vitro gene delivery while preserving cell viability and allows real‐time in vivo fluorescence tracking of the nanocarrier.
