Alterations in Human Milk Adiponectin, Leptin, Resistin, and microRNAs in Mothers With Gestational Diabetes Mellitus Compared With Healthy Controls: A Systematic Review and Network‐Based Analysis

open access: yesFood Science &Nutrition, Volume 14, Issue 9, September 2026.
Gestational diabetes alters the adipose–mammary gland axis, changing human milk composition—notably reducing adiponectin and dysregulating miR‐148a, miR‐30b, let‐7a, and let‐7d, which target ADIPOQ, LEP, and RETN and are enriched in glucose homeostasis/insulin resistance pathways.

Optimization of Physicochemical Properties of Chitosan–Gum Arabic Nanoparticles Containing Ziziphora clinopodioides Lam. Extract Using Response Surface Methodology

open access: yesFood Science &Nutrition, Volume 14, Issue 9, September 2026.
This study outlines the preparation of Chs‐GA‐NPs loaded with ZcEx. Dried leaves of the plant were powdered and extracted using an aqueous‐ethanolic method. Chitosan, GA, and Tween‐80 solutions were mixed to form a nanoemulsion, followed by the addition of the plant extract and TPP solution under stirring, which triggered ionic gelation and produced ...

Nanoencapsulation of Basil (Ocimum basilicum L.) and Echinophora platyloba DC. Essential Oils in Chitosan Nanoparticles: Characterization and Efficacy in Burger Preservation

open access: yesFood Science &Nutrition, Volume 14, Issue 9, September 2026.
Nanoencapsulation of the essential oils produced nanocapsules with small particle sizes and high encapsulation efficiency. Nanoencapsulation of the essential oils reduced microbial counts in the burger samples. The chitosan nanocapsules of essential oils enhanced total phenolic content and antioxidant properties in the burger samples.

Graphene Oxide‐Supported Chromium‐Containing Polyoxometalate as an Efficient Heterogeneous Catalyst for Nitroarene Reduction Under Mild Conditions

open access: yesGlobal Challenges, Volume 10, Issue 9, September 2026.
A chromium‐substituted monovacant Keggin polyanion was immobilized on the surface of graphene oxide. The obtained nanocatalyst showed high catalytic activity in the reduction of various nitroarenes under mild conditions. GC‐MS analysis confirmed the direct pathway for reduction of nitroarenes in the presence of the catalyst.

Early Detection of Clinical Deterioration in ICU Patients With Respiratory Failure Receiving Vasoactive Support: A Machine Learning Approach to Identifying High‐Risk Individuals

open access: yesHealth Science Reports, Volume 9, Issue 9, September 2026.
ABSTRACT Background and Aims Acute respiratory failure requiring intensive care is frequently accompanied by hemodynamic instability, necessitating vasoactive pharmacologic support, and elevated mortality. We aimed to develop and validate a machine learning model to stratify all‐cause in‐hospital mortality risk in ICU patients with respiratory failure ...

Association Between Opium Consumption and Lipid Profile: A Systematic Review and Meta‐Analysis of Observational Studies

open access: yesHealth Science Reports, Volume 9, Issue 9, September 2026.
ABSTRACT Background Opium, traditionally used for its analgesic and sedative properties, has been widely consumed. Given the conflicting evidence regarding its association with lipid profiles, the present study was conducted to investigate the association between opium consumption and lipid profile parameters.
