Asymmetry of the Ferroelectric Phase Transition in BaTiO3
Phase transitions are typically assumed to behave identically in forward and reverse. This work shows that in the ferroelectric material barium titanate this is not true: heating drives an abrupt, first‐order jump, while cooling gives a smooth, continuous change.

Why Color-Flavor Locking is Just like Chiral Symmetry Breaking [PDF]
We review how a classification into representations of color and flavor can be used to understand the possible patterns of symmetry breaking for color superconductivity in dense quark matter.

Symmetry properties of Penrose type tilings
The Penrose tiling is directly related to the atomic structure of certain decagonal quasicrystals and, despite its aperiodicity, is highly symmetric. It is known that the numbers 1, $-\tau $, $(-\tau)^2$, $(-\tau)^3$, ..., where $\tau =(1+\sqrt{5})/2 ...

Female desert locusts dig underground to lay their eggs. They displace soil, rather than removing it, to create a tunnel. We analyze burrowing dynamics and 3D kinematics and design a locust‐inspired hybrid soft–stiff robot that reproduces this mechanism. The results show the natural strategy minimizes energy, whereas alternative patterns raise costs up

Impact of Rapid Exome Sequencing on Pediatric Patients With Cardiomyopathy and Acute Heart Failure
ABSTRACT Few studies describe the impact of rapid exome sequencing (ES) on pediatric cardiomyopathy in urgent clinical settings. Here, we retrospectively report the impact of rapid singleton ES in pediatric patients presented with acute heart failure and isolated cardiomyopathy or myocarditis, between 2021 and 2023 at a single tertiary care center.

Dialogical structures in 17th century controversies [PDF]
This article is a contribution to historical dialogue analysis, a field of research which has gained momentum in recent years (Fritz 1995, 1997, Gloning 1999, and other articles in Jucker/Fritz/Lebsanft 1999).

Over one billion people worldwide suffer from obesity, and the number is continually rising. Animal models, especially mouse models, are crucial to identifying the genetic components of complex disorders and exploring the potential applications of these genetic findings.
