Revisiting Traceability of Vegetable Fresh‐Products in the EU: Why Blockchain Does (Not) Work?

open access: yesInternet Technology Letters, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Food safety is paramount for a healthy society. Traceability provides the means for a rapid response to any type of food‐related problem at any stage of the supply chain. This study delves into the application of blockchain technology in tracking vegetable products within the European Union's regulatory framework.

Optimized reconstruction of the absorption spectra of kidney tissues from the spectra of tissue components using the least squares method

open access: yesJournal of Biophotonics, EarlyView.
The absorption coefficient spectra of healthy and cancerous kidney tissues were reconstructed from the absorption spectra of tissue components using constant weights. Both reconstructions allowed to calculate the concentrations of the tissue components and a comparison between the healthy and chromophobe renal cell carcinoma kidney showed an increase ...

Optical method supported by machine learning for dynamics of C‐reactive protein concentrations changes detection in biological matrix samples

open access: yesJournal of Biophotonics, EarlyView.
The proposed method is based on an optical system supported by machine learning, that allows to monitoring dynamic of C‐reactive protein (CRP) level changes in near‐real time. Monitoring the presence level of CRP in wastewater might be used to track the spread of diseases or identify areas with increased morbidity.

Optical Method for the Detection of Viral RNA Using an Optical Fiber Sensor

open access: yesJournal of Biophotonics, EarlyView.
This study presents a fiber‐optic sensor with a microsphere tip functionalized with a gold layer and oligonucleotide probes for detecting SARS‐CoV‐2 RNA at concentrations as low as 10−12 M in near real time. ABSTRACT This study introduces a fiber‐optic sensor functionalized with a sensing probe for SARS‐CoV‐2 RNA detection.
