Stroke networks based on robotic telepresence
Journal of Telemedicine and Telecare, 2009In the USA, several telestroke networks have been successfully implemented in which a stroke centre of excellence provides expertise to community and rural hospitals via telemedicine. Stroke patients can thus receive round-the-clock access to stroke expertise. The Remote Presence (RP) system is used in several of these telestroke networks.

Communicating Through A Telepresence Robot
Proceedings of the 2017 CHI Conference Extended Abstracts on Human Factors in Computing Systems, 2017Telepresence robots have the potential to better replicate the qualities of in-person interactions than traditional communication tools, however, there are few studies of their use in domestic contexts. In our study, we explored how two long distance couples used commercially available telepresence robots called Beam® Smart Presence systems (Beam ...

Telepresence Robots- Interactions with Robots in Offices
Lovotics, 2013Telepresence is different from remote control. When you remote control a robot, you could operate at distant places without moving from your desk. You could work in dangerous places like the bottom of the ocean or top of a hill. However, when you control a telepresence robot, the idea is to not only to create your virtual presence, but also to feel the

Robotic Telepresence for Medical Training and Education
2009“See one, do one, teach one” has long been the paradigm for medical education. The challenge is that it is not always easy to be exposed to the entire spectrum of cases that is possible. One way to standardize the experiential training is to “open up” the OR or Angio Suite to more than the immediate team at the ...
