Active Optics in Astronomy: Freeform Mirror for the MESSIER Telescope Proposal

open access: yesMathematical and Computational Applications, 2018
Active optics techniques in astronomy provide high imaging quality. This paper is dedicated to highly deformable active optics that can generate non-axisymmetric aspheric surfaces—or freeform surfaces—by use of a minimum number of actuators ...

Multi-Channel Optical Receiver for Ground-Based Topographic Hyperspectral Remote Sensing

open access: yesRemote Sensing, 2019
Receiver design is integral to the development of a new remote sensor. An effective receiver delivers backscattered light to the detector while optimizing the signal-to-noise ratio at the desired wavelengths. Towards the goal of effective receiver design,

Statistics of the Optical Turbulence from the Micrometeorological Measurements at the Baykal Astrophysical Observatory Site

open access: yesAtmosphere, 2019
The paper focuses on the investigations of the optical turbulence structure. The distributions of the repeatability of the structure characteristic of the air refractive index are obtained. A scenario of decreasing the intensity of the optical turbulence

Who was the real sabertooth predator: Thylacosmilus or Thylacoleo?

open access: yesThe Anatomical Record, EarlyView.
Abstract Sabertoothed mammalian predators, all now extinct, were almost exclusively feloid carnivorans (Eutheria, Placentalia): here a couple of extinct metatherian predators are considered in comparison with the placental sabertooths. Thylacosmilus (the “marsupial sabertooth”) and Thylacoleo (the “marsupial lion”) were both relatively large (puma ...

Time and phase alignment of distributed gateways: Theoretical analysis and experimental demonstration

open access: yesInternational Journal of Satellite Communications and Networking, EarlyView., 2023
The performance limitation in multiple‐input multiple‐output (MIMO) feeder links due to time and phase misalignment of the ground stations is investigated. Time and phase distribution over optical fiber is considered as an approach to achieve the synchronization requirements.

Synapsids and sensitivity: Broad survey of tetrapod trigeminal canal morphology supports an evolutionary trend of increasing facial tactile specialization in the mammal lineage

open access: yesThe Anatomical Record, EarlyView.
Abstract The trigeminus nerve (cranial nerve V) is a large and significant conduit of sensory information from the face to the brain, with its three branches extending over the head to innervate a wide variety of integumentary sensory receptors, primarily tactile.

Visible Light‐Mediated Preparation of a Key Intermediate Employed in the Synthesis of Zolpidem and Several Analogs

open access: yesChemistry – An Asian Journal, EarlyView.
A new visible light‐induced method is reported for the C3‐alkylation of imidazo[1,2‐a]pyrimidines and ‐pyridines with aryldiazoacetates. This protocol can be performed in open air and serves as a convenient entry to several known and new molecules. A formal synthesis of zolpidem is achieved by changing the alkylating agent to an appropriate hypervalent

Speckle Observations With PISCO in Calern (France): II. Astrometric Measurements of Visual Double Stars in 2017–2018 and New or Revised Orbits for A1913 AB, A1710, COU1394, BU1185, A122, A570, HU577, COU812, HU332, A2095 AB, and A884

open access: yesAstronomische Nachrichten, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT We present relative astrometric measurements of visual double stars, made in 2017–2018 with the speckle camera PISCO at the 1‐m Epsilon telescope of the C2PU facility (Observatoire de la Côte d'Azur, Calern site). Our observing list contains orbital couples as well as double stars whose motion is still uncertain.
