The Influence of Deep Space and the Stars on Emotions

open access: yesInternational Journal of Psychology, Volume 61, Issue 1, February 2026.
ABSTRACT Detailed photographs of deep space from the James Webb telescope are public, yet little is known about how such imagery might affect people. Using both face‐to‐face and online study designs, compared to exposure to photographs of urban environments, exposure to photographs of deep space and stars increased experiences of awe overall and also ...

Northwestern European Ancestry Predominates in Idiopathic Subglottic Stenosis: Results From an English‐Speaking Cohort

open access: yesLaryngoscope Investigative Otolaryngology, Volume 11, Issue 1, February 2026.
ABSTRACT Objective To investigate the ancestral background of patients with idiopathic subglottic stenosis (iSGS) using genetic testing results. Methods A de‐identified survey collecting genetic testing service ancestry data results, in addition to self‐reported ancestry, personal autoimmune history, and any family history of iSGS, was distributed to ...

Quad‐SPIM: A High‐Speed, Multi‐Color Light‐Sheet Microscope for 3D Imaging of Large Cleared Human Brain Tissues

open access: yesLaser &Photonics Reviews, Volume 20, Issue 3, 5 February 2026.
A high‐speed, multi‐color light‐sheet microscope, named quad‐SPIM, enables rapid three dimensional (3D) imaging of large cleared human brain samples with simultaneous four‐channel acquisition. This custom‐built system achieves subcellular resolution across centimeter‐scale volumes, maintaining high image quality.

Skyrmionic Polarization Textures in Structured Dielectric Planar Media

open access: yesNanophotonics, Volume 15, Issue 3, 12 February 2026.
Topological skyrmionic textures are typically associated with the structure of optical fields. This work demonstrates that they can also emerge from the optical response of structured metasurfaces. Through engineered light–matter interaction, polarization eigenstates acquire nontrivial topology, which can be mapped into the Chern‐insulator physics ...
