Pathways of Protein Secretion in Prokaryotes and Eukaryotes: Molecular Mechanisms, Biological Functions, and Therapeutic Opportunities

open access: yesMedComm, Volume 7, Issue 6, June 2026.
This graphical abstract delineates noncanonical protein secretion systems across eukaryotes and prokaryotes. Eukaryotic UcPS covers four ER–Golgi bypass pathways, enabling rapid leaderless protein export via direct transmembrane translocation or vesicle‐mediated release.

From Barriers to Competence: Multi‐Institutional Exploratory Study of Perceived Competence, Attitudes, and Barriers in E‐Patient Communication Among Chinese Medical Students

open access: yesMedComm – Future Medicine, Volume 5, Issue 2, June 2026.
This multi‐institutional study (N = 310) found positive attitudes toward second‐generation E‐patient communication but substantial gaps in digital clinical data interpretation. Attitude independently predicted competence (OR = 2.282). SEM showed that perceived barriers were positively associated with attitudes (β = 0.394), which in turn were positively
