TEMPERATURE CHARACTERISTIC FOR HEART RHYTHM OF THE SILKWORM [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of General Physiology, 1925
The critical thermal increment for the reaction controlling the frequency of the heart beat in mature silkworms is 12,200 calories. This determination agrees quantitatively with the increment deduced for other activities of arthropods in which the rate of central nervous discharge is believed to be the controlling element.

Effects of the Fluid Replacement Method During Online Hemodiafiltration on the Solute Removal Performance and Biocompatibility Using the Asymmetric Cellulose Triacetate Membrane

open access: yesTherapeutic Apheresis and Dialysis, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Introduction Pre‐dilution online hemodiafiltration (Pre‐HDF) is predominantly used in Japan, whereas post‐dilution online HDF (Post‐HDF) is more common in Europe. An asymmetric cellulose triacetate (ATA) membrane may improve biocompatibility.

Temperature Characteristics of Axle-Box Bearings Under Wheel Flat Excitation

open access: yesLubricants
The high-amplitude and high-frequency wheel–rail impacts excited by wheel flat result in severe contact friction in axle-box bearing (ABB), and the friction can cause a temperature rise or even structural damage of ABB.

Protein pyrophosphorylation by inositol pyrophosphates — detection, function, and regulation

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Protein pyrophosphorylation is an unusual signaling mechanism that was discovered two decades ago. It can be driven by inositol pyrophosphate messengers and influences various cellular processes. Herein, we summarize the research progress and challenges of this field, covering pathways found to be regulated by this posttranslational modification as ...

Experimental study on soil-water characteristics and micromechanism of Shanghai soft clay after high temperatures

open access: yesYantu gongcheng xuebao, 2019
The soil-water characteristic curve (SWCC) is the main constitutive relation to reveal the properties of unsaturated soils. However, few researches on soil-water characteristics of unsaturated soils in high-temperature environment, especially over 100˚C,

An upstream open reading frame regulates expression of the mitochondrial protein Slm35 and mitophagy flux

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This study reveals how the mitochondrial protein Slm35 is regulated in Saccharomyces cerevisiae. The authors identify stress‐responsive DNA elements and two upstream open reading frames (uORFs) in the 5′ untranslated region of SLM35. One uORF restricts translation, and its mutation increases Slm35 protein levels and mitophagy.
