A Study on the Influence of Mobile Fans on the Smoke Spreading Characteristics of Tunnel Fires

open access: yesFire
Mobile fans, as flexible and convenient new longitudinal ventilation and smoke extraction equipment for tunnels, demonstrate more significant effectiveness in an emergency response to tunnel fires compared to traditional smoke extraction methods.

Air temperature distribution and energy balance modelling of a debris-covered glacier

open access: yes, 2016
Near-surface air temperature is an important determinant of the surface energy balance of glaciers that is often represented by constant linear temperature gradients in models.

Transferrin receptor 1‐mediated iron uptake supports thermogenic activation in human cervical‐derived adipocytes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
In this study, we found that human cervical‐derived adipocytes maintain intracellular iron level by regulating the expression of iron transport‐related proteins during adrenergic stimulation. Melanotransferrin is predicted to interact with transferrin receptor 1 based on in silico analysis.

Three-Dimensional Numerical Simulation of Gas–Liquid Two-Phase Flow in the Izena Hole, Middle Okinawa Trough, to Clarify the Generation Process of Seafloor Hydrothermal Deposits

open access: yesJournal of MMIJ
Although seafloor hydrothermal deposits are essential metal resources because of their considerable reserves and high metal grades, the concrete physical setting that causes their generation remains unclear.

Analytical investigation on impact of presence of MPL on temperature distribution in single cell of PEFC under high temperature condition

open access: yesNihon Kikai Gakkai ronbunshu, 2020
Polymer Electrolyte Fuel Cell (PEFC) is desired to be operated over 90℃ during the period from 2020 to 2025 in Japan. The aim of this study is to clarify the impact of microporous layer (MPL) on the temperature profile of interface between polymer ...

The planar cell polarity protein Vangl2 interacts with the PDZ‐domains of Scribble but not with a unique PDZ‐like domain in Inturned

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Structural and biochemical characterisations show that the planar cell polarity (PCP) protein Inturned harbours a unique PDZ‐like domain that does not bind canonical PDZ‐binding motifs (PBMs) like that of another PCP protein Vangl2. In contrast, the apical‐basal polarity protein Scribble contains four PDZ domains that bind Vangl2, but one PDZ domain ...

Graphite crystallizer and its surface quality as a factor affecting the copper continuous casting process

open access: yesMetalurgija, 2022
Pure copper is one of the best conducting metals among known materials, making it the first choice for wires and microwires. However, before subjecting to metal working, the material is being manufactured in the continuous casting lines. The experimental

Temperature Distributions in Circumstellar Dust Shells [PDF]

open access: yesSymposium - International Astronomical Union, 1987
The knowledge of the temperature distribution in circumstellar dust shells (CDS) is needed for both the calculation of the emergent IR spectrum and the modelling of physical processes, e.g. dust formation.
