Crosstalk between the ribosome quality control‐associated E3 ubiquitin ligases LTN1 and RNF10

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Loss of the E3 ligase LTN1, the ubiquitin‐like modifier UFM1, or the deubiquitinating enzyme UFSP2 disrupts endoplasmic reticulum–ribosome quality control (ER‐RQC), a pathway that removes stalled ribosomes and faulty proteins. This disruption may trigger a compensatory response to ER‐RQC defects, including increased expression of the E3 ligase RNF10 ...

Variations in the Upper Ocean Heat Content of the Southern Canadian Basin

open access: yesJournal of Marine Science and Engineering
The marine environment of the Arctic Ocean has changed rapidly in recent decades. We used reanalysis data and observational data to explore the variations in the upper ocean heat content (OHC) of the Canadian Basin (CB) and the variations in the ...

Predicting the radial heat transfer in the wellbore of cryogenic nitrogen fracturing: Insights into stimulating underground reservoir

open access: yesEnergy Science & Engineering, 2020
Cryogenic nitrogen fracturing is an attractive method for stimulating underground reservoir, since it could favorably induce complex fracture due to the huge temperature difference with lower injection pressure and with the replacement of current water ...

3-D Geothermal Model of the Lurestan Sector of the Zagros Thrust Belt, Iran

open access: yesEnergies, 2020
The Zagros thrust belt is a large orogenic zone located along the southwest region of Iran. To obtain a better knowledge of this important mountain chain, we elaborated the first 3-D model reproducing the thermal structure of its northwestern part, i.e.,

Function‐driven design of a surrogate interleukin‐2 receptor ligand

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Interleukin (IL)‐2 signaling can be achieved and precisely fine‐tuned through the affinity, distance, and orientation of the heterodimeric receptors with their ligands. We designed a biased IL‐2 surrogate ligand that selectively promotes effector T and natural killer cell activation and differentiation. Interleukin (IL) receptors play a pivotal role in

Boundary Layer Temperature Stratification as Result of Atmospheric Circulation Within the Western Side of Brașov Depression [PDF]

open access: yesAerul şi Apa: Componente ale Mediului, 2019
The study explores the connection between the atmospheric circulation and the air temperature stratification in the western part of Brașov depression during 2 years of air temperature monitoring (2013-2014) on fixed points.

Time after time – circadian clocks through the lens of oscillator theory

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Oscillator theory bridges physics and circadian biology. Damped oscillators require external drivers, while limit cycles emerge from delayed feedback and nonlinearities. Coupling enables tissue‐level coherence, and entrainment aligns internal clocks with environmental cues.

An upstream open reading frame regulates expression of the mitochondrial protein Slm35 and mitophagy flux

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This study reveals how the mitochondrial protein Slm35 is regulated in Saccharomyces cerevisiae. The authors identify stress‐responsive DNA elements and two upstream open reading frames (uORFs) in the 5′ untranslated region of SLM35. One uORF restricts translation, and its mutation increases Slm35 protein levels and mitophagy.

A Turbulence-Oriented Approach to Retrieve Various Atmospheric Parameters Using Advanced Lidar Data Processing Techniques

open access: yesAtmosphere, 2019
The article is aimed at presenting a semi-empirical model coded and computed in the programming language Python, which utilizes data gathered with a standard biaxial elastic lidar platform in order to calculate the altitude profiles of the structure ...

Impacts of Rooftop Photovoltaics on the Urban Thermal Microclimate: Metrological Investigations

open access: yesBuildings, 2023
Ambitious climate protection requires decentralized renewable energy production via building-related photovoltaics in cities. However, cities are also subject to the Urban Heat Island effect, which negatively impacts human health.
