C59N Peapods Sensing the Temperature [PDF]

open access: yesSensors, 2013
We report the novel photoresponse of nanodevices made from azafullerene (C59N)-encapsulated single-walled carbon nanotubes (C59N@SWNTs), so called peapods. The photoconducting properties of a C59N@SWNT are measured over a temperature range of 10 to 300 K under a field-effect transistor configuration.

Design and Analysis of a Combined Strain–Vibration–Temperature Sensor with Two Fiber Bragg Gratings and a Trapezoidal Beam

open access: yesSensors, 2019
A combined sensor to simultaneously measure strain, vibration, and temperature has been developed. The sensor is composed of two Fiber Bragg gratings (FBGs) and a vibration gainer. One FBG is used to measure strain, while the other measures vibration and

Flow velocity and temperature sensing using thermosensitive fluorescent polymer seed particles in water

open access: yesInternational Journal of Smart and Nano Materials, 2017
Particle image velocimetry (PIV) is an experimental technique that uses microscale particles as tracers to measure the velocity of a fluid flow. In this paper, we seek to extend this technique to simultaneously measure fluid temperature as well, by ...

Effect of Mn2+ on Upconversion Emission, Thermal Sensing and Optical Heater Behavior of Yb3+ - Er3+ Codoped NaGdF4 Nanophosphors

open access: yesFrontiers in Chemistry, 2019
In thiswork, we investigate the influence of Mn2+ on the emission color, thermal sensing and optical heater behavior of NaGdF4: Yb/Er nanophosphors, which the nanoparticles were synthesized by a hydrothermal method using oleic acid as both a stabilizing ...

Non-Markovian temperature sensing

open access: yesPhysical Review Research, 2021
We investigate the sensing performance of a single-qubit quantum thermometer within a non-Markovian dynamical framework. By employing an exactly numerical hierarchical equations of the motion method, we go beyond traditional paradigms of the Born-Markov ...

Thermoacoustic and photoacoustic sensing of temperature [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Biomedical Optics, 2009
We present a novel temperature-sensing technique using thermoacoustic and photoacoustic measurements. This noninvasive method has been demonstrated using a tissue phantom to have high temporal resolution and temperature sensitivity. Because both photoacoustic and thermoacoustic signal amplitudes depend on the temperature of the source object, the ...

Model-Based Position and Reflectivity Estimation of Fiber Bragg Grating Sensor Arrays

open access: yesSensors, 2018
We propose an efficient model-based signal processing approach for optical fiber sensing with fiber Bragg grating (FBG) arrays. A position estimation based on an estimation of distribution algorithm (EDA) and a reflectivity estimation method using a ...

Simultaneous measurement of magnetic field and temperature based on magnetic fluid-clad long period fiber grating [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of the European Optical Society-Rapid Publications, 2015
Simultaneous measurement of magnetic field and temperature is proposed and experimentalized with a magnetic fluid-clad long period fiber grating structure. Magnetic fluid is used as the surrounding material of the long period fiber grating.
