Terahertz Resonant Emission by Optically Excited Infrared‐Active Shear Phonons in KY(MoO4)2
The generation of monochromatic electromagnetic radiation in the terahertz (THz) frequency range has remained a challenging task for many decades. Here, the emission of monochromatic sub‐THz radiation by optical phonons in the dielectric material KY(MoO4)

In this study, we found that human cervical‐derived adipocytes maintain intracellular iron level by regulating the expression of iron transport‐related proteins during adrenergic stimulation. Melanotransferrin is predicted to interact with transferrin receptor 1 based on in silico analysis.

Novel Multilayer SAW Temperature Sensor for Ultra-High Temperature Environments
Performing high-temperature measurements on the rotating parts of aero-engine systems requires wireless passive sensors. Surface acoustic wave (SAW) sensors can measure high temperatures wirelessly, making them ideal for extreme situations where wired ...

Structural and biochemical characterisations show that the planar cell polarity (PCP) protein Inturned harbours a unique PDZ‐like domain that does not bind canonical PDZ‐binding motifs (PBMs) like that of another PCP protein Vangl2. In contrast, the apical‐basal polarity protein Scribble contains four PDZ domains that bind Vangl2, but one PDZ domain ...

TRPV channels as temperature sensors [PDF]
The past year has seen a doubling in the number of heat-sensitive ion channels to six, and four of these channels are from the TRPV family. These channels characteristically have Q(10) values of >10 above the thermal threshold, very different from the Q(10) values of 1.5-2.0 seen in most ion channels.

Tau acetylation at K331 has limited impact on tau pathology in vivo
We mapped tau post‐translational modifications in humanized MAPT knock‐in mice and in amyloid‐bearing double knock‐in mice. Acetylation within the repeat domain, particularly around K331, showed modest increases under amyloid pathology. To test functional relevance, we generated MAPTK331Q knock‐in mice.

Calpain small subunit homodimerization is robust and calcium‐independent
Calpains dimerize via penta‐EF‐hand (PEF) domains. Using single‐molecule force spectroscopy, we measured the strength and kinetics of PEF–PEF homodimer binding. The interaction is robust, shows a transient conformational step before dissociation, and remains largely insensitive to Ca2+.

A High-Resolution All-Digital Temperature Sensor with Process Variation Compensation
In this paper, we propose a high-resolution all-digital complementary metal–oxide semiconductor (CMOS) temperature sensor with a ring oscillator for temperature sensing and power supply immunity, a time amplifier for process variation compensation, and ...

Characterization of the response of fibre Bragg gratings fabricated in stress and geometrically induced high birefringence fibres to temperature and transverse load. [PDF]
The transverse load and temperature sensitivities of fibre Bragg gratings (FBGs) fabricated in a range of commercially available stress and geometrically induced high birefringent (HiBi) fibres have been experimentally investigated.
