FGFR Like1 drives esophageal cancer progression via EMT, PI3K/Akt, and notch signalling: insights from clinical data and next‐generation sequencing analysis

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Clinical analysis reveals significant dysregulation of FGFRL1 in esophageal cancer (EC) patients. RNAi‐coupled next‐generation sequencing (NGS) and in vitro study reveal FGFRL1‐mediated EC progression via EMT, PI3K/Akt, and Notch pathways. Functional assays confirm its role in tumor growth, migration, and invasion.

Effect of Conditioning Heat Treatment on Structure and Properties of Qunched from A-F Dual Phase Range-Tempered 42CrMo Steel

open access: yesTeshugang, 2019
The microstructure, impact performance and fracture morphology of 42CrMo steel after pre-heat treatment (annealing, quenching, tempering) and treatment of quenching from dual phase range + tempering at high temperature ( also referred to as quenching from

Sudden Changes in Water Hardness Do Not Impact Short-Term Rainbow Trout Survival

open access: yesFishes, 2022
Fish transferred from hard water to soft water, as can occur during the stocking of hatchery-reared fish into natural environments, experience many physiological stressors that can cause mortality.

The incomplete beta function law for parallel tempering sampling of classical canonical systems

open access: yes, 2003
We show that the acceptance probability for swaps in the parallel tempering Monte Carlo method for classical canonical systems is given by a universal function that depends on the average statistical fluctuations of the potential and on the ratio of the ...

Decorrelation of the topological charge in tempered Hybrid Monte Carlo simulations of QCD [PDF]

open access: yes, 1999
We study the improvement of simulations of QCD with dynamical Wilson fermions by combining the Hybrid Monte Carlo algorithm with parallel tempering.

dUTPase is essential in zebrafish development and possesses several single‐nucleotide variants with pronounced structural and functional consequences

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
dUTPases are involved in balancing the appropriate nucleotide pools. We showed that dUTPase is essential for normal development in zebrafish. The different zebrafish genomes contain several single‐nucleotide variations (SNPs) of the dut gene. One of the dUTPase variants displayed drastically lower protein stability and catalytic efficiency as compared ...

Computational inference in systems biology [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
Parameter inference in mathematical models of biological pathways, expressed as coupled ordinary differential equations (ODEs), is a challenging problem. The computational costs associated with repeatedly solving the ODEs are often high.

Enzymatic degradation of biopolymers in amorphous and molten states: mechanisms and applications

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
This review explains how polymer morphology and thermal state shape enzymatic degradation pathways, comparing amorphous and molten biopolymer structures. By integrating structure–reactivity principles with insights from thermodynamics and enzyme engineering, it highlights mechanisms that enable efficient polymer breakdown.

Adaptive parallel tempering for BEAST 2

open access: yesbioRxiv, 2019
With ever more complex models used to study evolutionary patterns, approaches that facilitate efficient inference under such models are needed. Parallel tempering has long been used to speed up phylogenetic analyses and to make use of multi-core CPUs ...

Impact of APOE ε4 Genotype Load on Cognitive Function and Lipid Metabolism in Patients With Cerebral Small Vessel Disease

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Apolipoprotein ε4 (APOE ε4) is a potent genetic risk factor for Alzheimer's disease (AD). However, its role in cerebral small vessel disease (CSVD) remains unclear. Given the clinical and pathological similarities between CSVD and AD, this study aimed to investigate the associations of APOE ε4 gene dosage with cognitive function and
