A Practical Template Attack on MICKEY-128 2.0 Using PSO Generated IVs and LS-SVM [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
The reported power analysis attacks on hardware implementations of the MICKEY family of streams ciphers require a large number of power traces. The primary motivation of our work is to break an implementation of the cipher when only a limited number of ...

Natural Products Inspired Scaffold Diversification Leads to Unnatural Molecular Warhead and Covalent Strategy to Modulating Protein Function through Electrophilic Bromine Transfer

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
We report a new thiolate‐reactive α,α‐gem‐dibromo lactam warhead that activates transcription factor Nrf2 and demonstrates anti‐inflammatory activities, which have implications in cancer, neurodegeneration, and cardiovascular diseases. RNA‐seq illuminated detailed transcriptional profiles, and chemical reactions with cysteine‐containing compounds ...

Adaptive Template Attacks on the Kyber Binomial Sampler

open access: yesIACR Transactions on Cryptographic Hardware and Embedded Systems
Template attacks build a Gaussian multivariate model of the side-channel leakage signal generated by each value of a targeted intermediate variable. Combined with additional steps, such as dimensionality reduction, such models can help to infer a value with nearly 100% accuracy from just a single attack trace. We demonstrate this here by reconstructing

A Perspective on the Applications of Triphasic Gas Storage in Electrochemical Systems

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Gas storage in microporous materials positioned locally at an electrode or electrocatalyst surface enhances electrochemical processes. Abstract Microporous materials store gases under dry conditions (e.g., hydrogen or oxygen via physisorption), but in some cases microporous materials also show triphasic (e.g., in a solid|gas|liquid system) gas storage ...

Electroacupuncture Improves the Learning and Memory by Modulating Hippocampal Glucose Metabolism through IGF1/IGF1R Signaling in Alzheimer's Disease

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Electroacupuncture (EA) ameliorates learning and memory function in 5×FAD mice by regulating the brain glucose metabolic network. This neuroprotective effect is closely related to enhancing neuronal energy utilization via the IGF1/IGF1R signaling pathway.

Paternal Circadian Disruption Impairs Offspring Cognition via Sperm microRNAs

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Paternal circadian disruption remodels the sperm small RNA payload, elevating miR‐92a‐3p/miR‐25‐3p levels and perturbing early embryonic gene regulatory programs. Microinjection experiments and single‐embryo transcriptomics reveal sex‐specific developmental vulnerabilities, ultimately impairing offspring hippocampal synaptic plasticity and cognition ...

Targeting the PDK1/c‐Myc/SOX10 Signaling in Oligodendrocytes Alleviates Neuropathic Pain

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This work reveals that oligodendrocyte homeostasis, mediated by PDK1, is a critical determinant of neuropathic pain (NPP) pathogenesis. Disruption of PDK1 in oligodendrocytes impairs SOX10‐dependent myelination programs through c‐Myc accumulation, leading to disrupted myelination and the pathophysiology of NPP.

On the Resiliency of Protected Masked S-Boxes Against Template Attack in the Presence of Temperature and Aging Misalignments

open access: yes
International audienceProfiling side-channel analysis (SCA) attacks have received a lot of attention in the recent years. To perpetrate these attacks, the adversary creates a profile of a sensitive device at her disposal, and uses it to model a target ...

Vulnerability of State-of-the-Art Face Recognition Models to Template Inversion Attack

open access: yes
Face recognition systems use the templates (extracted from users' face images) stored in the system's database for recognition. In a template inversion attack, the adversary gains access to the stored templates and tries to enter the system using images ...

PET Imaging of Cardiac Inflammation in Viral Myocarditis Using a DPP4‐Targeted Probe

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study describes a DPP4‐targeted PET probe for imaging myocardial inflammation by selectively targeting activated immune cells. Derived from the clinically approved small‐molecule inhibitor linagliptin, the probe demonstrates favorable biodistribution with specific cardiac uptake in myocarditis.
