Kinetics of template growth in alumina during the process of templated grain growth (TGG)

Acta Materialia, 2001
Kinetics of texture development in liquid-phase sintered alumina ceramics has been studied during templated grain growth (TGG); a technique for developing crystallographic texture in ceramic bodies via the grain growth of aligned anisometric particles in a dense and fine grain size matrix.

Fabrication of textured BNKLT ceramics by Reactive Templated Grain Growth using NBT templates

2007 Sixteenth IEEE International Symposium on the Applications of Ferroelectrics, 2007
Textured Bi0.5Na0.35K0.1Li0.05 TiO3 (BNKLT) ceramics have been fabricated by a reactive templated grain growth method using plate-like Na0.5 Bi0.5TiO3 (NBT) templates. The NBT templates were synthesized from bismuth layer-structured ferroelectric Na0.5Bi4.5Ti4O15 particles by the topochemical method.

Development of Textured Mullite by Templated Grain Growth

Journal of the American Ceramic Society, 1999
Highly textured mullite was obtained by enhancing anisotropic grain growth by TiO 2 doping and by templating grain growth on oriented acicular mullite seed particles in a mullite precursor. Upon heating, the mullite precursor crystallized and densified to an equiaxed microstructure of 1‐2 µm ...

Templated grain growth of textured mullite/zirconia composites

Materials Letters, 2005
Abstract Mullite is an attractive material for advanced ceramic applications, but its low fracture toughness prevents it from widespread industrial applications. Therefore, mullite/zirconia composites were prepared from a reactive mixture of alumina and zircon with additives of TiO2 and MgO to increase mechanical properties and densification ...

Templated Grain Growth of Barium Titanate Single Crystals

Journal of the American Ceramic Society, 2000
BaTiO 3 single crystals were grown via templated grain growth (TGG), which is a process in which a single‐crystal “template” is placed in contact with a sintered polycrystalline matrix and then heated to migrate the single‐crystal boundary into the matrix.

Registered Deposition of Nanoscale Ferroelectric Grains by Template‐Controlled Growth

Advanced Materials, 2005
Regular patterns of ferroelectric PbTiO3 nanostructures with lateral dimensions down to 30-60 nm have been grown onto platinized Si substrates by chemical solution deposition. The high registration of the grains is achieved by "top-down"-generated templates of TiO2 dots as seeds for their deposition. Ferroelectricity was verified by piezoresponse force

Fabrication of grain orientation BaTiO3 thick film by template grain growth method

Solid State Communications, 2011
Abstract BaTiO3 thick film with a (h00) grain orientation was fabricated by the template grain growth method. The thick film had a single phase of perovskite, with a Lotgering’s factor of as high as 86%. The ferroelectric properties of the thick film were investigated.

Preparation of textured Ba2NaNb5O15 ceramics by templated grain growth

Ceramics International, 2006
Abstract Acicular Ba2NaNb5O15 (BNN) single crystals were synthesized by the reaction of BaCO3 and Nb2O5 in molten NaCl at 1200 °C for 4 h. Using these single crystals as seeds and V2O5 as additive, textured BNN ceramics were successfully prepared via templated grain growth (TGG).

Fabrication of textured KNNT ceramics by reactive template grain growth using NN templates

Current Applied Physics, 2013
Abstract Lead-free non-stoichiometric (K0.470Na0.545)(Nb0.55Ta0.45)O3 (KNNT) textured ceramics were prepared by a reactive templated grain growth method using NaNbO3 (NN) templates. The Plate-like NaNbO3 (NN) templates were synthesized from bismuth layer-structured Bi2.5Na3.5Nb5O18 (BNN) particles by a topochemical microcrystal conversion (TMC ...

Textured BaTiO3 by templated grain growth and electrophoretic deposition

Journal of Materials Science, 2015
[001]-Oriented barium titanate (BaTiO3) ceramics were prepared by templated grain growth using [001]-oriented plate-like template BaTiO3 particles, synthesized via the molten salt method. Platelets synthesized in a 2-step or 3-step molten salt were used in two platelet concentrations.
