Tailoring particle alignment and grain orientation during tape casting and templated grain growth

open access: yesJournal of the American Ceramic Society, 2018
Abstract The quality of crystallographic alignment in textured ceramics produced by tape casting and templated grain growth (TGG) has been little studied despite its demonstrated impact on magnetic, piezoelectric, and optical properties.

Enhanced Piezoelectricity for PNT-PZT Ceramics by Texture Engineering

open access: yesMaterials Open
Texture engineering is proved to be an effective strategy to enhance the piezoelectricity of piezoelectric ceramics in recent years. In this paper, a low-temperature sintered 0.24Pb(Ni[Formula: see text]Ta[Formula: see text]O[Formula: see text]PbZrO ...

Simultaneous achievement of large strain, low hysteresis, and high-temperature stability in textured BT-based piezoelectric ceramics

open access: yesJournal of Advanced Ceramics
BaTiO3 (BT)-based piezoceramics with large temperature-stable strains and low hysteresis are urgently needed for high-precision actuators because of increasing environmental problems. Here, tetragonal [001]c-textured (Ba0.98Ca0.02)(Ti0.96Sn0.04)O3 (BCTS)

Recent Developments in (K, Na)NbO3-Based Lead-Free Piezoceramics

open access: yesMicromachines
(K0.5Na0.5)NbO3 (KNN)-based ceramics have been extensively investigated as replacements for Pb(Zr, Ti)O3-based ceramics. KNN-based ceramics exhibit an orthorhombic structure at room temperature and a rhombohedral–orthorhombic (R–O) phase transition ...

Development of a Templated Grain Growth System for Texturing Piezoelectric Ceramics [PDF]

open access: yesAdaptive Structures and Material Systems, 2001
Abstract High strain actuation can be obtained by engineering the crystallographic texture of piezoelectric ceramics. Single crystal piezoelectrics have significantly improved strain performance because crystal orientation can be controlled during use — their highly perfect lattice greatly simplifies the crystal orientation.
