Spatial and temporal distribution characteristics and evolution of traditional villages in the Qihe River Basin of China

open access: yesScientific Reports
The Qihe River Basin, renowned as one of the cradles of Chinese civilization and a river that flows in the Psalms, boasts a rich cultural heritage. River basins have historically been the cradle of civilization, nurturing the prosperity and enduring ...

Spatio-temporal variations of licensed doctor distribution in China: measuring and mapping disparities

open access: yesBMC Health Services Research, 2020
Background The licensed doctor misdistribution is one of the major challenges faced by China. However, this subject remains underexplored as spatial distribution characteristics (such as spatial clustering patterns) have not been fully mapped out by ...

Hyperosmotic stress‐induced redistribution of pre‐mRNA cleavage factor I subunits is associated with shifts in alternative polyadenylation

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Hyperosmotic stress triggers the relocation of the CFIm complex from the nucleus to the cytoplasm. This shift creates a nuclear ‘stoichiometric bottleneck’, limiting CFIm availability for mRNA processing. Consequently, specific mRNAs like NUDT21 and DICER1 undergo targeted 3′UTR shortening, demonstrating how spatial protein dynamics drive rapid ...

GelMA‐based 3D spheroids recapitulate transcriptomic and functional hallmarks of myeloid sarcoma

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
GelMA 5% hydrogels support the formation of myeloid leukemia spheroids that recapitulate MS‐specific features, including G1 arrest, apoptosis, and ECM‐driven transcriptomic reprogramming. The 3D model mimicked soft‐tissue‐like stiffness and oxygen conditions, and transcriptomic convergence with primary MS samples confirmed its utility as a preclinical ...

Spatial and Temporal Distribution Characteristics of Dust Devils in the Qaidam Basin

open access: yesGaoyuan qixiang
Dust aerosols are significant components of atmospheric aerosols, and they play a crucial role in global weather and climate changes through radiative effects and the formation of cloud and precipitation. The impact of dust devils on the worldwide ...

Spatial and Temporal Characteristics of Drought in Baiyangdian Basin Based on SPI

open access: yesShuitu baochi yanjiu, 2022
In order to explore the temporal and spatial evolution characteristics of drought in the Baiyangdian Basin, with a background of climate change, based on the 0.1° resolution precipitation grid data in the study area from 1979 to 2018, the Standardised ...

Genetic dissection of human ABCE1 in yeast reveals separable requirements for ribosome recycling and suppression of aberrant reinitiation

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Human ABCE1 cannot functionally replace its yeast ortholog. Yeast–human chimera analysis identified NBD1 as a major interspecies barrier. Genetic screening yielded hABCE1 revertants that rescue yeast viability but fail to suppress aberrant translation reinitiation in the 3′ UTR.

Towards malaria prediction in Sri Lanka. modelling spatial and temporal variability of malaria case counts [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
This thesis was motivated by the need of the Anti Malaria Campaign (AMC) of Sri Lanka for malaria risk maps and malaria case number predictions to assist in the planning for malaria control.

Determinants of undergraduate bioscience engagement: Validating attendance barriers and classroom spatial behaviour across institutions

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Student engagement extends beyond simple attendance. Across 891 bioscience students from three universities, attendance behaviour was associated mainly with structural influences, whereas classroom spatial behaviour reflected affective and sensory factors.

Elevated Connectivity During Language Processing Is Associated With Cognitive Performance in SeLECTS

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective Self‐Limited Epilepsy with Centrotemporal Spikes (SeLECTS) is associated with language impairments despite seizures originating in the motor cortex, suggesting aberrant cross‐network interactions. Here we tested whether functional connectivity in SeLECTS during language tasks predicts language performance.
