Mutant NPM1 in Acute Myeloid Leukemia Initiation and Maintenance

open access: yesAging and Cancer, EarlyView.
NPM1 mutations drive acute myeloid leukemia by acting as neomorphic transcriptional regulators that cooperate with Menin–MLL and XPO1 to sustain HOX/MEIS1 expression and block differentiation. Targeting these mutant‐specific transcriptional dependencies provides a rational therapeutic strategy for NPM1‐mutated AML.

A Case of McCune–Albright Syndrome with External Auditory Canal Stenosis Treated with Image-Guided Surgery System-Assisted Temporal Bone Surgery

open access: yesJournal of International Advanced Otology
McCune–Albright syndrome is a disorder of fibrous bone dysplasia complicated by skin pigmentation and endocrine abnormalities. Although temporal bone lesions are rare, surgical treatment is required when external auditory canal (EAC) stenosis develops ...

Validity and sensitivity of a human cranial finite element model: Implications for comparative studies of biting performance [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
Finite element analysis (FEA) is a modelling technique increasingly used in anatomical studies investigating skeletal form and function. In the case of the cranium this approach has been applied to both living and fossil taxa to (for example) investigate

Efficacy of Intermittent Theta‐Burst Stimulation for Prolonged Disorders of Consciousness: A Prospective, Randomized, Controlled Trial

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Emerging evidence suggests that low‐frequency neural oscillations are dynamically regulated by consciousness levels, with the recovery of low cortical activity potentially serving as a neurophysiological substrate for conscious emergence. Targeted enhancement of these low‐frequency rhythms in patients with disorders of consciousness

Evolution and Stagnation of Image Guidance for Surgery in the Lateral Skull: A Systematic Review 1989–2020

open access: yesFrontiers in Surgery, 2021
Objective: Despite three decades of pre-clinical and clinical research into image guidance solutions as a more accurate and less invasive alternative for instrument and anatomy localization, translation into routine clinical practice for surgery in the ...

Myeloid DAP12-associating lectin (MDL)-1 regulates synovial inflammation and bone erosion associated with autoimmune arthritis. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
DNAX adaptor protein 12 (DAP12) is a trans-membrane adaptor molecule that transduces activating signals in NK and myeloid cells. Absence of functional Dap12 results in osteoclast defects and bone abnormalities.

Innate Immune Reprogramming Mediated by Endogenous Retroelement Dysregulation Drives Multiple Sclerosis Progression

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
Epigenetic reprogramming in hematopoietic stem and progenitor cells (HSPCs) and downstream myeloid cells, mediated by H3.3 downregulation and endogenous retroelement (ERE) overexpression, contributes to the progression of multiple sclerosis (MS). ABSTRACT Background Skewed myelopoiesis in the bone marrow has been identified as a key driver of multiple ...

Prognostic Impact of Tumor Extension in Patients With Advanced Temporal Bone Squamous Cell Carcinoma

open access: yesFrontiers in Oncology, 2020
Objective: The extreme rarity of temporal bone squamous cell carcinoma (TB-SCC) has delayed the accumulation of high-quality clinical evidence. Our objective here was to explore anatomical factors associated with the prognosis of T4 TB-SCC cases.Study ...

Osteocytes as a record of bone formation dynamics: A mathematical model of osteocyte generation in bone matrix [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
The formation of new bone involves both the deposition of bone matrix, and the formation of a network of cells embedded within the bone matrix, called osteocytes.
