Hemangioma of the Temporalis Muscle
Annals of Otology, Rhinology & Laryngology, 1991A rare case of an intramuscular hemangioma of the temporalis muscle is reported. The clinical examination, carotid arteriogram, computed tomographic scan, and aspiration cytology suggested the vascular nature of the tumor, but an exact diagnosis could only be made after histopathologic examination.

Anomalous muscle adjacent to temporalis
Clinical Anatomy, 2006AbstractTemporalis is an important muscle of mastication. In recent years, there has been controversy about its detailed anatomy, and claims have been made about the existence of a variant muscle, sphenomandibularis. The present case report describes an anomalous muscle within the infratemporal fossa distinct from both temporalis and sphenomandibularis.

Arteriovenous malformation in the temporalis muscle
British Journal of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, 2003An 18-year-old man presented with an arteriovenous malformation (AVM) in the temporalis muscle. It was shown by magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and confirmed by intra-arterial angiography. The lesion was completely resected and the defect reconstructed with titanium mesh and cancellous bone.

Innervation Pattern of the Temporalis Muscle
Journal of Craniofacial Surgery, 1998The purpose of this article is to describe the neural anatomy of the temporalis muscle as dissected along the intramuscular temporal fascial plane. This sagittal plane is a natural cleavage plane of the muscle, which is explored along with its relationship to the deep temporal nerve. Eight temporalis muscle specimens were removed in their entirety from

Abstract The term temporal fascia is a misnomer for the temporal aponeurosis. The entire outer half of the muscle attaches to this aponeurosis. A temporal subaponeurotic surgical space does not exist. A collection of pus in the so-called space is really a purulent temporal myositis.

The arterial supply of the temporalis muscle
Surgical and Radiologic Anatomy, 2006Owing to the diverse applications of the temporalis muscle in reconstructive surgery, the study of its arterial supply is becoming an issue of great importance nowadays. The material of the present study consisted of 44 specimens, four obtained from two stillbirths and 40 dissected from 20 embalmed cadavers after injecting the external carotid artery ...

Pseudomalignant osseous tumor of the temporalis muscle
Journal of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, 1985A case is presented of a 10-year-old girl who had a benign osseous tumor of the temporalis muscle. The tumor appeared to be a variant of the so-called pseudomalignant osseous tumor of the soft tissues and could readily be distinguished from both osteogenic sarcoma and myositis ossificans.
