Multicondition Health Condition Assessment for Electric Motors Based on Knowledge Embedding Machine Learning and Statistical Data Fusion

open access: yesIET Electric Power Applications, Volume 19, Issue 1, January/December 2025.
This article presents a novel approach for assessing motor equipment health based on knowledge‐embedded machine learning and statistical data evaluation. This methodology establishes relationships between health states and actual fault records through a dynamic weight allocation strategy that provides quantified percentage values, reflecting actual ...

Fault‐Tolerant Scheme for Single‐Switch Open‐Circuit Fault in CSI‐Fed Five‐Phase PMSM

open access: yesIET Electric Power Applications, Volume 19, Issue 1, January/December 2025.
This paper investigates the single‐switch open‐circuit fault and develops a fault‐tolerant control method that reduces torque ripple and winding copper losses. ABSTRACT Due to their inherent capability to provide short‐circuit fault protection, combined with features, such as high torque density and reduced torque ripple, five‐phase permanent magnet ...

Development of a scaled‐down single‐viaduct model for comprehensive rail potential monitoring and stray current analysis

open access: yesIET Energy Systems Integration, Volume 7, Issue 1, January/December 2025.
Abstract This research investigates the intricate relationship between load variations, environmental conditions, and the resultant stray current generation within DC railway systems. A scaled‐down single‐viaduct model was employed to establish a controlled experimental environment for real‐time monitoring of voltage differentials between the railway ...

Reduction of Wind Power Curtailment by VSC‐HVDC System Considering LVRT Operation

open access: yesIET Generation, Transmission &Distribution, Volume 19, Issue 1, January/December 2025.
Compared to the system without the VSC‐HVDC system, the fluctuation of VWT (wind‐side PCC bus voltage) in Fig. 9 is reduced when a 300 MVA VSC‐HVDC system is installed. In addition, the smallest deviation of VWT is observed with a 600 MVA VSC‐HVDC system.

A Hierarchical Control Strategy With Fault Ride-Through Capability for Variable Frequency Transformer [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
A variable frequency transformer (VFT) is being considered as a new alternative to the classical back-to-back high voltage direct current (HVDC) link for interconnection of two asynchronous networks. The VFT is a retrospective form of frequency converter

Energy Stress of Surge Arresters Due to Temporary Overvoltages

open access: yes, 2011
The paper presents a method for selecting the rated voltage of a metal oxide surge arresters (MOSA) based on the calculation of energy stresses. The electrical behaviour of gapless MOSA under temporary overvoltages (TOV) is important when selecting the rated voltage of MOSA.

Development Of Algorithms For Measuring Nonsinusoidality Voltage And Temporary Overvoltage

open access: yes, 2021
Today, operating electrical networks, low and high voltage devices, and engines cause incidents that are characterized by the deviation of parameters from the nominal values. Yet, due to switching of the load cause temporary overvoltages. Besides, emergency modes caused by power outages and sudden failure of equipment of consumers, additionally cause ...
